Those of us who bought
Find Any File from the App Store will see this update automatically. If, however, you bought it directly from Thomas Tempelmann, you'll need to log into his web site to get the update.

I must have got mine at the Apple app store as I updated recently to 2.5.2 when I was notified by the app. Indispensable piece of software to me. My Spotlight search just never worked right, so I have FAF to open to search my DP Projects volume by default, type the name of the project and there it is! I think also you can just type ".dpdoc" for a list of all your DP projects and then have them sort in reverse chronological order.
Either way... great app to have. Worth every penny, just like PlugInfo.

I think the price difference is $3 — a small price to be notified of updates. Thomas gets the same amount either way.
If you can think of what to find including invisible files, FAF can do it. To search the Root, hold the Option key.

FAF is crucial for finding ANY files. Especially useful for "dangerous" operations.
Finder only finds user files that want to be found (user files, documents, audio, etc.)
BTW, in FAF's Preferences, you can check a box that says "Automatically check for updates of this application" (with an option for beta & Preview versions). So even though I didn't get mine through the app store, it's been reliable for notifying me of updates upon launch.

What can it do that EasyFind (free) can’t?

I used EasyFind for awhile and didn't care for it but no longer recall why.
According to this review from 2021, EF is faster on an HDD and FAF is a lot faster on an SSD. That this guy was still using spinners in 2021 doesn't impress me. If I ask FAF to
Search All Disks and have all four externals active (rare), that's 28TB and it might take two minutes.

Find Any File is $6 from Templemann
https://findanyfile.app/ or $9.99 from the App Store.
I think this is new since the last time I downloaded it directly (how many years ago?):
BTW, in FAF's Preferences, you can check a box that says "Automatically check for updates of this application"

I'm trying to remember the name of a computer someone was using for audio in the 90's with the giant cursor. That's what the old Melda installer reminds me of.
I'm glad to see them move away from their previous updater system to an install manager type app. Probably better for them as well.

[EDIT:] The Plugin Manager from Melda is strange but functional.
I opened the install pkg which goes through the usual moves of "installing something". Then what appears to be the plugin manager window opens and you do stuff like selecting, updating, installing, uninstalling (kudos to Melda for always providing uninstallers). However, quit didn't respond, so I clicked the "CLOSE" button, it asked if I wanted to keep the installer (pkg) or trash it. I trashed it, and it was gone-- the pkg, everything, nothing installed at all. Weird. But it did work as it should.
Also, here's the status bar. That percentage complete number really pops, doesn't it?

Looks like the search can be restricted to more very specific conditions, otherwise appears to do the same thing.
