Supernode appears to involve the networking capability of Kazaa, the popular peer-to-peer file sharing program.

If your interested in finding out
more just....Look on Russian PostMixing/DualSurround Boards.
ITS ALL RIGHT THERE!!!!
Slave, I'd LOVE to find out more about this. So would everybody else on this board I think. I tried to find these Russian Postmixing boards, but no luck. How bout a link? Or is that a secret too?
I seriously don't mean to be rude, but if "IT'S ALL RIGHT THERE," then why don't you just tell us! I'm happy to go and research it by myself if that's what it takes.
It's just somewhat irritating when many on this board are trying desparately to find a solution. You waltz in here saying "yeah guys, this is great, I'm running 3 G5's linked up with some super g-gnome fiber optic conductivitey microwave thingy, and it's the bomb!" - (paraphrase, of course)
I understand if you want to keep it a secret, but when the discussion is about possible solutions, it's not nice to come in and say "I've got it!!...... but I'm not tellin'."

Exactly/..
well said!
Slave, we are all in here trying to HELP each other. It F-- Up of you to come into a help zone and ellude to or boast of a solution and then say you won't say.
Do you also like to torture small animals?..LOL
Yes, I guess that means we are all small animals compared to your vast knowlege of the secret rites of fiber-optic masturb______
Seeing our reactions, perhaps you'd like to reconsider your Ill conceived posting?
Or, you can be right about it..
'
Your call..

Asside from newer hardware/software distributed solutions, I would imagine
Xgrid or clustering would be a good place to start researching the mystery solution.
Just a suggestion.

Just got a reply from MOTU by email about this subject.
They recommend buying a second MPTAV to lock the machines together.
As you know, we don't generally release information on our development plans ahead of time.
A similar technique has been available in DP for some time. With two copies of DP and two computers, one can already run MIDI sequencing on one machine and VIs and effects on a second. With two MOTU interfaces (or any two interfaces with ADAT 9-pin), you can achieve sample-accurate sync between the two systems for audio processing.
While I can certainly see benefits to Apple's system, it's not like this is unheard of in the DP world at this point; just ask all the people using DP with Gigastudio or similar outboard sampling rigs.

Sorry. I didn't mean to get ugly about things. I just thought if this was a rant thread, it seemed ludicrous to me. We can always find ways to push the envelope of our hardware, but that shouldn't keep us from doing good work. If that's not your belief, you're just making excuses. I was responding primarily to Rush909 about not being able to do professional work with only one G5. That's just crazy. It may not be your most Zen-like scenario, but it can be done. Let me say that for those of little faith... it can be done!

DualSurround ..... Is that for my four ears? Russian PostMixing Board ? How would I know if I found one? Is it in russian?
I thinks we been had.
The post does point out how gullible people are. Always the next big thing that will solve All the Problems , We've created , in the process of pushing the boundrys of the equipment .{Which I'm all for....just don't F--- yourself } If the process makes your gig unusable,or makes you totally frustrated. You've gone to far for your own good.
I read a post from Mrmarr , and he points out that people
have forgotten about hardware synths, yea, hardware synths. Smart. Of course it is nice to have all your VI's, in with the Sequence, all selfcontained. But. If your computer can't cope ..
I believe in Freezing- if it can be improved gooood.
Reason Rewired runs alot of VI's

I'm in the midst of composing and mixing a wham-bam orchestral piece for the SF 49ers with strings and epic horns and Stormdrum aplenty -- and I'm using one G5. And getting paid. Ergo professional use.
VIs tracks up the wazoo.
Would I take a second G5? Sure. Do I
need it? Honestly, no.
Process management, people. That's what I'm talkin'.
