Re: DP 11.32

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

I go away for several years, come back and still have about 5000 more posts than anyone else on the board. WT...?

Meanwhile... since I've been gone

• Worked thru three (count 'em) electric pianos by beating the Hell out of them in performance and in the studio.
• DP 11.23 still crashes but is the only DAW I'll use.
• Mac Pro Trash Can still going strong.
• Yamaha grand rebuilt in 2020 already needs work due to many hours of playing per day.

And this...

...don't know where I'm going but I know where I've been.

I can't imagine Facebook as being useful for the exchange of information in different categories like here. The format is all wrong.

I think in some ways it's generational. There are probably a lot of users who never used web based forums before and social media platforms are the main thing they know. Heck... I go back to dial-up modem days! Fortunately, I'm still ambulatory.

I hear all these kids nowadays are on TikTok because their parents are on Facebook. Me? I think the next big thing is a little something called AOL.

Honestly the only thing that competes with this place is Motuguru facebook and the Motunity google groups. There is a whole community of people who sprung out of the MOTU webinars, including some long time beta testers for MOTU and old DP based recording studio guys.

IMO it's obvious that DP has a small but loyal set of users. No place is super active. Plus some people don't do that well with the whole forum or even Facebook group format, but are active on Zoom meetings related to DP etc. I get that, the times DP gets mentioned on KVR or Gearspace it usually is followed by someone claiming it's a buggy mess etc. etc.

Well, I can tell you as someone who has recently become very interested in outboard gear, it would be nice if DP wasn't the worst Mac DAW (AFAIK) when it comes to hardware inserts. Sigh.
