An inside source said it's coming out as a subscription model, $50 a month, and it doesn't work if you stop paying.

Do Avid, Presonus and Steinberg bundle it with their hardware interfaces? Do any interface manufacturers who also set DAWs bundle live with the interface?
Akai, Novation, Arturia, Focusright, and M-Audio off the top of my head bundle Live Lite. M-Audio is owned by Avid so Pro Tools would be an interface and DAW manufacturer that sells hardware with Live bundled. Presonus own Studio One, and used to bundle Live Lite.

Which “it” are you referring to? DP?

From the M4 page at motu.com
This is interesting though, I seriously doubt they drop this without the update to regular old DP being far behind. The odd part to me though is so far no breakdown of how it's different, how many tracks etc. etc. Also the dropping of the "digital" in the name.

I’m just old enough to have heard The Shadow rebroadcast on the radio growing up as a kid. Good stuff!

Am I crazy, or does this Performer Lite seem to have MIDI regions in what I assume is the sequencer window?

Not crazy. This is getting interesting for sure. No Tabs in the Consolidated Window of "Performer Lite" either.

Big bummer for me is that Logic is able to host many more VIs with much lower CPU hit.
Come On DP.... You can do this!
Hope the new update fixes the CPU connection.

If by any chance Performer Lite is a glimpse of a much needed DP refresh, I wouldn't be surprised if MOTU waited for the upcoming NAMM show to make any significant announcement to that effect.
Perhaps, in the meantime, they will release an interim update with some bug fixes - i.e VCA faders that actually work as intended...

With DP 8 versus Logic 9 there was a very big difference. Have you compared the latest version of DP directly to Logic 10.4x? I don't see much difference in CPU hit with large VI counts. A few percent maybe.
