Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
By the way bro, I have been experiencing the keyboard going out of communication. It’s happening in seriously large session in DP 7. Not as much as it seems to be happening to you, but more than it used to happen. There are some under the hood things going on for sure, such as no longer have .wav as an export option, no longer having dialogue boxes when deleting unused audio or exporting.
This may be a bit precarious for awhile, it is indeed a brave new world in 64 bit land.
My SSD drive is smoking fast. Once I port over to that, I will then update every plug waves has ever made up to waves 9, hoping to be able to go back to waves 8 by changing waves shells as needed...precarious indeed.

I had never experienced this bug until DP8. Are you saying that it's BEEN happening in DP7, and that it's now worse? Now, since installing DP8? I used DP7.24 nearly every day since it came out, and this problem never once raised its ugly head.
But you're saying that it's been there all along? Or is it just now starting to happen, regardless of which version you use?

I experienced the keyboard problem in earlier updates of V7, but not 7.24. Restarting DP always fixed it, but sometimes it just went away after a few minutes.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
Here's my (limited) DP8 status, so far...
Not a big project...2 tracks, guitar-vocal, minimum plugs, no VIs. Then a mix with Izotope Ozone 4 and RND Inspector XL on the Master.
The session was at 12:00 and lasted about an hour.
I intentionally left DP running while I was out running errands which is now 4.5 hours later. Everything still seems OK...key commands seem to all be responsive, DP Control is working from either my iPhone or iPad.
So, I have nothing negative to report and, hopefully, that shall remain the case.
FWIW.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
Well... finally installed and tested DP8 on a separate boot drive so my DP7.24 install would not be affected. I discovered all of the issues Shooshie mentioned in the original post for this thread. Totally weird stuff: jerky scrolling, Select All not working, Cmd-W not closing panel windows, can't Copy because the menu item is greyed out... what a mess.
After 2 hours of testing and re-booting DP8 to get the key commands back, and having them fail repeatedly, I gave up. I didn't even test the bounce or video features because I was too frustrated.
I'm sticking with DP7.24 and will test again when the DP8 maintenance update is made available. I'm very happy running DP7.24 with VEPro 5. It's extremely solid for me, and because the key commands function in a consistent manner I can zip through tasks quickly.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
I'm starting to wonder if these problems are OS version related. I'm using 10.6.8. Cmd-W, select all, copy are all working fine after 7 long and intensive days using DP 8 (64 bit). No crashes ... DP 8 solid stability-wise. As I've mentioned in other threads, my only issue is jerky video when trying to work to picture.cbird1057 wrote:Well... finally installed and tested DP8 on a separate boot drive so my DP7.24 install would not be affected. Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
First time today that I noticed, when trying to rename an audio track, that the delete key would not allow backspacing.
This was within the Sequence Editor, FWIW.
DP8 has been running about 2 hours.
Buzzy
EDIT: (15 minutes later) Didn't change anything or restart. Now working. ??

Not sure. Buzz seems to have some keyboard quirks with 10.6.8I'm starting to wonder if these problems are OS version related.
I'll just try DP8 later with the maintenance release, no big deal.
I sent you a PM, Mike.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
Hye bUzz.
If you are talking about the arrow key and maneuvering thru names etc, that is a pure bug. We can start DP and in seconds try to name a trk with standard OSX protocol and DP overides any arrow key motion we make with deleting all the text. Infuriating and a big slower downer.
That and the scrolll wheel craziness are driving me (more) insane.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
So the plugs of DP8 work in DP7 ?David Polich wrote:I can confirm the slow scrolling in DP8. It's a bit jerky. I'm confident
MOTU will address this in the next update, just as they did the missing
soundbites and slow waveform-redraw issues with DP7.0.
Honestly, the thing I wanted most in DP8 was the new plug-ins, and since they
can be accessed in DP7 once you install and launch 8, that's mission accomplished, and I can stay in 7.24 for the time being.
Can they be copied over from a DP8 install partiton ?
I read about loosing stuff if both versions are on the same partition
Thanks for clearing up
and best to all

Sometimes I can work for hours without a problem. I don't know what the heck is going on. I just hope that MOTU is able to find it, being that it's intermittent, and on some systems non-existent.

Yes, I thought I was "safe" with 10.6.8 and my late 2009 Quad Core.Shooshie wrote:Sometimes I can work for hours without a problem. I don't know what the heck is going on. I just hope that MOTU is able to find it, being that it's intermittent, and on some systems non-existent.

With admittedly limited use (maybe 25 hours) that is the first bug that I've encountered other than a perceived slight slowness with certain windows or dialog boxes popping open.
I haven't noticed any issues with scrolling, but I really haven't pushed too hard as of yet.

Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
Regarding the keyboard problem, it's so inconsistent, on so many levels..
It may be and probably is nothing but.. Do all of you with Apple keyboards have the latest firmware updates installed?
Also, is it possible that there are conflicts in the Commands menu? DP8 was the first DP install I can remember that didn't ask me what to do with the command bindings.
Not on 8 anymore, had to go back, but I thought I would throw my 2 bits in anyway. I didnt have these keyboard problems at all for the 3 weeks I used it, FWIW. I hope you guys get a fast solution, it must be maddening.

DP11, 2019 16-Core Mac Pro, OS 14 Sonoma , 64GB RAM. RME HDSPe MADI FX to SSL Alphalink to SSL Matrix console, and multiple digital sub consoles. UAD Quad PCIe. Outboard stuff.
Re: MOTU - "BETA Testing" DP8
I installed DP 8 on a separate new partition to avoid all the conflicts between DP 7 and DP 8 components, and I am not seeing any keyboard problems in either version, including the name edit backspace problem. Perhaps in addition to theme, plugin, MC, etc. conflicts, there are also some keyboard conflicts between 7 and 8 causing lost keyboard control.
