Nothing wrong with a little nudge and some feature requests thrown in at the same time.

It's kind of like voting. If you won't take the time to go out and vote, you shouldn't be complaining when the sleazy 32-bit plugin gets elected back into power.

Are there any advantages to booting OSX Lion in 64 bit mode and starting apps in 64 bit mode? That's what I'm doing and it seems to help a lot of performance issues. Mainstage won't behave in 32 bit mode as I overload it.

Advantage for 64 bit apps is mainly using more than 4 gigs of ram, also a modest improvement in performance.

Advantage for 64 bit kernel is the ability to use more than 32 gigs of ram (and a tiny performance improvement, probably too small to notice).

For anyone with a machine capable of booting into the 64 bit kernel, the only reason I can think of not to is if you have hardware that has 32 bit drivers (or software that includes 32 bit extensions). And for anyone with a mac that can't boot 64 bit kernel, you can still run apps in 64 bit and use more than 4 gigs of ram on each.
