That sounds like around the time that a friend of mine was playing in a band with Vai's wife (or it could have been his fiancé or ex at that point). Anyway she has some pretty amazing war stories about Whitesnake.

Hilarious and great story. I don't even KNOW the band Whitesnake, but now I feel that I do, without ever having heard a note. (maybe your story is the best way to get to know them)

And maybe that keyboardist was the one responsible for the decision not to be seen on stage. "Ah…. sure… I'll go on tour with you. Double the lead-singer's salary, and I play under the stage where NOBODY sees me. Deal?"

Yeah... still if I had a penny for every penny somebody was getting in royalties for "Is This Love?", I wouldn't complain. But then I like that sort of music... minus the bass humping of course. :(

Thanks folks! Remind me to tell you of the time that I saw Black Flag.

Zed- I was going for a Clockwork Orange reference.

And I have to admit, I never thought that the keyboard player was down there by choice:

"So, what we do, is we spin a heart shaped guitar while the singer hits on all the women in the 'shed', and I'm going to hump my bass guitar, and the drummer, you know... he'll be playing the snare with his penis. Same ol', same ol', really."

"I'll be in the basement. Playing keyboards, and drinking."

And James: now this... this... is an off topic thread. Thanks!
