There are plenty of posts that should be moved to that section but, alas, it ain't gonna necessarily happen.

DP is the perfect name...

Using DP is Dangerous Proposition as it sometime feels Demonically Possessed

Often times when relying on it I find myself in Deep Poo - as it Doesnt Perform as advertised

I've since learned Dont Promise to meet Deadline Pressure!

How many guitarists does it take to move a topic?

13. One to move it; 6 to tell him it should happen and 6 to bitch that it is censorship to have done so. :)

Absolutely. Stupid, but from a marketing standpoint, it would be a great move. Better than any feature they could add from a money standpoint.

Not at all. MOTU has done everything they can from a feature standpoint, so that is probably the required "facelift". They won't lose any dedicated existing users with a name change, but maybe "DP" or "Digital Performer" is just not commercially viable or "accessible".

So... they could roll out the new "X" or whatever it's called, and on introduction, they hype it in advance as "the Pro Tools killer". Now DP might already be the PT killer, but it's just another version of DP. Now a NEW thing with a NEW name might be worth checking out to some people.

I have a pretty stellar track record when it comes to marketing and packaging - and this really is a solid and amazing idea.

As a distant second, I thought it would be cool for a premium version of DP to work out bulk deals with NI, Antares, and Arturia to include Komplete, Arturia's everything package and Autotune installed with (and of course locked to) DP where MOTU could license cheaply (and pass that along of course) with the restriction that they could only be used within the DP environment. They could probably get these licenses in bulk for less than $200 total, then pass that along. That would be a hell of a compelling purchase incentive - and for those that think people wouldn't be down with "locked to DP" plugs, look at Logic's.

I think MOTU should target a group of users of any one product - Pro Tools would probably be a smart choice - and just concentrate fully on converting over their user base. It is easier to take their customers than to make new ones.
