As I wrote, it is in Sweetwater's catalog. The physical one I received two days ago. Evidently, it has already changed Chuck Shurak's musical life.mhschmieder wrote:Huh? I just checked the Sweetwater site and DP 6 is NOT listed, either as a new purchase or as an upgrade.
Electric Keys IS listed, however.
Maybe DP 6 is listed but hidden; it doesn't show up if traversing the product listing for MOTU products.

OK, but just so you know, most people today use "catalogue" as a euphamism for on-line listings.
Someone else posted that they couldn't find 828 mk III at the Sweetwater website, but it did pop up for me yesterday.
It's possible they're pushing and pulling rather dynamically at the moment, either to update information and availability dates or maybe to conservatively pull something if they think it's going to come later than they expected.
At any rate, I am still left wondering if it is a good idea to pre-order now, so as to get the original shipment and not be back-ordered. I really need to upgrade to DP 6 before evaluating my final needs for a new computer, as I suspect I may be able to get away with the next mac mini (which should be released by early May at the latest).

No, I promised to put my sax down when I started using DP
.
Actually, I did get it out the other day, but I made sure DP wasn't running
.
Apparently DP gets insecure around those fluid sax lines.

Speaking of saxophones and me, here are some I'm working on right now. Very much "in progress" things, and not at all finished products. They consist of the theme and a variation which comprise the 2nd movement of the Alexander Glasunow Saxophone Quartet.
The FIRST one includes my real soprano saxophone with the alto, tenor and bari coming from Garritan's Jazz band VI's.
Glasunow: Quartet 2nd movement: Canzona Variée, Real Soprano Sax + Garritan Alto, Tenor, & Bari
The rest of these are 100% Garritan jazz instruments, which are not even close to the sound I want, but hey, it's just a bunch of VI's. I'll trade it out with something.
Glasunow Quartet: Mvt. 2, Canzona Variée (same as above, but 100% Garritan)
Glasunow Quartet: Mvt. 2, Variation 2 (Garritan)
Nothing important. Just had the links handy and the subject came up, so there it is. Pardon the tangent.

I can relate to how you feel, HC.
I figured 5.5 would bring what 6.0 is supposedly offering, but with more plugs and VIs as well; I hadn't factored the UI update into this though.
By my calculations,* the UI revamp makes up for the thin-on-the-ground plug update, but that still leaves us at 5.5, which we've skipped.
All along I've speculated that MOTU only showed us a taster of what 6.0 will deliver; at the very least I'd hoped for some VI surprises and a healthy overhaul and enhancement of DP's plug suite, complete with "legacy modes" for perfect on-going compatibility with future versions.
No need to feel bad hellcat; it seems you have company in the high-expectations stakes.

I try to read most of your posts here, always very informative - and now I got to hear some of your music/recordings, thanks.
I thought everyone was backbeat oriented (well not really but...), so I was happily surprised.
So, makes me want to post my work-in-progress things here as well.
