Hey thanks Talcott :D

Group buy has just exceeded the 100 target BTW so lowest price has now been reached and downloads etc should be available soon

Couple of things ..

The group buy is now sending out serials for Jimi H and Ampeg Uno .. which means you can also grab AT2 or whatever for free too. So any 'lingerers' waiting for the deal to reach this point can sign up now - the price is at its lowest now obviously too.

The other thing is I have been in touch with IK tech support about the mono instance crash 'issue' ... they didn't seem to know anything about it and just said they'd pass it on to product dev. in Italy.

If anyone knows any more about this (now or in the future) I'd be interested to hear about it - please post!

(ps anyone signing up to the group buy feel free to refer me (loosesnare) and get $5 e-credit for us both!)

so is there any way to not get the Hendrix thing? And get one of the other plug ins like, I want the Am2, and like the Reverb or t Racks. Will it work that way? Or do you have to get the Hendrix plug in.

daddyunicorn- no, Hendrix is not swappable in this deal (I tried to explain it at the start of this thread, have a look and see if it makes any sense!) ...

... maybe you would be better off just making use of the current IK deal of buy one get one free. (In fact the esoundz deal incorporates the IK deal and gives a few extras (like X-Gear) but provided you choose AJH - which is the stock they are trying to shift I think...)

Spikey,

Where did you hear the samples of the Hendrix software? I'm not finding them at the website.

I'm hoping they did a good job on the clean Hendrix sounds. If they did then I'll probably pass on A2 and get the full version of SVX instead.

My gripe with most amp modeling is that they cover all the heavily processed sounds (that I don't need) and skimp on the clean tones and straight amp at 11 tones (which I do need).

My only gripe with 'amp modeling' is it exists at all

Samples as in audio - left hand side 'guitar riffs' (yeah not very clear)

For software demo - left hand side of page 'download demo' .... demo is fully featured software (for 10 days) - same deal for AT2 and SVX ....

They can be authorized after you get the SN's from esoundz group buy (although it's worth checking your IK user area as at least one of the demos is not as up to date version wise as the full software download)

My only gripe as owner of a Fender Twin, Fender Jazzmaster + Jazz bass, Line6 distortion, POD XT pro, FilterPro/Echo Pro, Bass Pod XT, .... and now AT2/ AJH/ AT2 LIVE/UNO and X-Gear is that I'm a drummer.

Thanks for the link.
Looks like there's enough for me in the Hendrix package. There were 4 or 5 samples that sounded close to what I'm looking for.

Guess I'll pony up and buy the package.

Ha! That sums up my experience with synths and drum plugins, since I'm a guitarist.
Hope you like what you're hearing.
Regarding the cleaner sounds in the Hendrix edition, I think it excels at that. When I play my old Strat through it, I'm pretty impressed. AT2 does some nice clean sounds, too. If I wasn't clear enough in my earlier post in this thread, I don't usually have much use for the high gain sounds, but I do like it when I can have the tone start to break up when playing harder, like a real amp, and the IK stuff does this better than the other amp sims I've tried.
I had forgotten about the mono/stereo issue, because I now remember seeing something about it a while ago, probably here at Unicornation. I almost always use a stereo track for guitar, which is why I haven't run across it.

Jason Williams @ IK is aware of it. This is from his eMail response on December 12 2007:

yes its just a problem with DP for some reason.. we are looking into it.

Hi Jason,

Thanks again for writing and your quick response.

I tried your work around and it worked with both Amplitube and Ampeg SVX

So does that confirm an issue with AmpliTube and Ampeg SVX that can
be fixed?

It seems that there's a few other members of UnicornNation.Org that have
experienced the same problem.

Thanks,

I downloaded all Jimi Hendrix Amplitube, Ampeg, and Ampltube 2. The products are registered and open up.
I am not sure how to get the Amplitube X-Gear. Any suggestions?

It's not entirely clear to me either, but my understanding from the esoundz's squids on the esoundz kvr forum is that:

-- this X-Gear program is not yet released by IK, but will be available from IK around 3/10-15, and it should appear in our user area in the IK site. Our X-Gear Patches from esoundz (one of the bonuses) sould also appear by that time in our esoundz user area

-- also, we are supposed to send an email to allen @ esoundz . com to request which free WAV Pak we want (the other bonus), and he is to put them in our esoundz user area starting Monday 3/3

Also, you should now have in your esoundz user area the third of the three bonuses -- AmpliGrooves Vol. 1 (they're pretty nice)

I am blown away by how much more dead on realistic AT2 and ATJH seems to be from a couple hrs messing around, and how easy it is to dial in "that tone" you have in your head, compared to Guitar Rig 3 (which I've owned since GR2). In terms of my sonic orientation, I grew up in the "Classic Rock" era, and those key tones (Cream, Hendrix, CCR etc.) are forever burned in my head, which clicks in and knows it when it hears it in a sim or even a real amp.

This confirms what I had read in a lot of reviews I'd seen about how there's a better, real-amp sounding mid-lower mid punch in the amp sims, that makes a more "real amp tone." And it seems much more responsive to playing dynamics, which I find puzzling since GR3 has those awesome advanced settings for 50-60KHz, Sag, Variac, Response, etc. which I have tweaked extensively to alter playing dynamics and tone.

GR3 is great too, has different strengths (fx, the modulators, the twin tape decks), so, at this awesome Group Buy price, I don't feel like I got something I already have. Now I think the AT2 stuff'll be my first go to when grabbing the guitar for writing/jamming to play what I'm thinking/hearing in my head, and perhaps use GR3 for other more specific f/x intensive or dependent applications.

I'd be interested in others' impressions of GR3 vs AT2/ATJH, comparing and contrasting, and thoughts re: how they'll incorporate both in their tone pallette. Thanks guys!

I downloaded all three demos last weekend and gave them a thorough testing. Looks like I'll be buying into this Group Buy later this week.

Amplitude 2 seems creamier and more analog-like and accurate for the vintage stuff than Guitar Rig 3, and I was even surprised how well it worked in the context of Virtual Re-Amping when taking a previously recorded electric guitar track and feeding it through a Vox AC30 preset.

I think Guitar Rig 3 still excels for creative sounds, multiple effects, etc. but didn't have a chance to try the pedalboard part of Amplitude.

Hendrix crashed each time so I couldn't try it. Amplitude crashed pretty frequently as well, causing me to have to restart DP in most cases and quickly delete the reference and save the project before re-inserting. probably related to the demo mode, as I've had this happen with other demo plug-ins where it doesn't always know whether to query for license override and how many times to do so.

Ampeg is pretty impressive and certainly goes way beyond what Giutar Rig 3 offers for bass guitar. I know people are going to want the Ampeg sound even if I don't personally, so a cheap way of buying into this product (even the Uno version would be useful) is a no-brainer.

As chance would have it, I won a low-bid on a SansAmp PSA-1.1 last week on eBay while I was too busy in training to check the internet (only $400!), and that will arrive in a few days. It uses FET modeling and is an analog device. Should prove useful live and in the studio; whereas the NI and IK stuff would more likely be used during production or re-production on revisited material. Not sure the latency could get low enough for live tracking. Maybe if running on Muse Receptor.

Are you putting them on a mono track by any chance? If so, either stick a mono> stereo plug before Amplitube or use an aux with a stereo bus as an imput. .. as long as amplitube's input is stereo it should be OK.

FWIW I have now auth'd my AT2 and AJH and they are working fine (I updated one of them at least from my IK user area too after authorizing). No crashes since I realized about the mono bug.

They're both amazing - particularly impressed by AJH and the variety and detail of the cleaner (yet still kinda filthy) tones. Love those fuzz pedals. Still plenty of exploring to do with these plugs... :)
