I think we would be lucky if they extend our WUPs for 6 months...
Hmf. I replaced my Waves plugs. It would certainly help Waves if they extended DP Waves customers WUPs to accommodate their lack of compatibility for all this time as these customers would probably buy WUP later. I say •••• them though, too little too late.

I got a free WUP extension, and 5.9.7 is performing well. Everyone I know who has asked Waves for an extension has gotten one. This is my second.
Waves is a PITA but doesn't it seem like they're slowly getting it together for DP? It does to me.

I also got a free WUP extension. Version 5.9.7 seems to be improvement.
Installer issue:
If you have any other than English OSX, installer may not work. Change your first language to English, install, change the language back to original and that's it. First I couldn't install, but after couple of posts with Waves, Tech resolved the problem.
Netshell not showing

Hey All,
I installed the waves beta 5.9.7 to fix this AU issue, and now my Netshell plugins don't show up in DP. I ran the Waves_AU_Regi_Util_5.9.7 app and scanned for everything, making sure to check the netshell box. Still, no luck. Did anyone run into this issue? Did I miss a step? thanks.

APA followup

Hey all,
Just got off the phone with waves a few minutes ago, and am pretty steamed. I installed the beta 5.9.7 update for my waves plugins. And it worked great, all the waves AU plugins show up and they all run fine...... with the exception of Every single one of the Waves APA netshell plugins. After a few minutes on the phone, they told me that the APA units are NOT supported by the beta update. So, if you install the 5.9.7 enabler, according to Waves you will no longer be able to use the APA unit. Is there a work around for this anywhere? Please let me know if anyone has found one.... it would be a shame to let a 1500 dollar piece of machinery go to waste.

Does anyone have a link for this beta release. I logged into my WAVES acount, but I don't see it in downloads. I see the news release for it....
Also, I have the Musician's Bundle authorized on my iLock on my PPC. Do I just downlaod the beta and stick in my ilock and I'm good to go?
I will be running it on a MBP with Leopard and 5.13.

I sent an email to Waves and by the next day they extended my WUP no problem. They also said the extension should cover the final release. It was hard to find the installer to download, but everything installed no problem and works great including L3, Doubler, IR-L, etc. I didn't try Tune Lite. Finally.

A slight oversight huh?? Hopefully the public version will support the APA's. I know the Logic AU's were working with the APA's, but definitely not the MAS version... it would crash DP on start up.

Hi All,
can anyone tell me exactly where the WaveShell Component 5.9.7 is supposed to be kept? I have it in Applications>Waves Beta 5.9.7>WaveShells, also in Applications>Waves>WaveShells (I need this other folder for RTAS/DAE versions also VST version on the same Mac, also NetShell versions...). I have also tried experimenting with placing duplicate WaveShell 5.9.7 Component into Library>Audio>Plug Ins>Components (where every other Component plug-in is kept). The Waves Beta AU's still will not show up in DP 5.12. If I place the older AU Components anywhere, DP will simply load the older components, not the new DP Beta 5.9.7. I've been in touch with Waves, who want me to call... It's just a bit limiting in Australia with whacked out time zone differences, not to mention waiting on the phone for hours while paying for an international call.
I've tried repairing Disk Permissions, Restoring the system's drive via Disk Warrior 4, re-installing the AU 5.9.7 installer, trashing DP's AU validator... all fruitless.
I have a feeling that the conflict is because I need other Waves 5 versions for Pro Tools LE 7 and Peak Pro 5; including NetShell software for Pro Tools and the APA 44-M.
It's never easy with Waves; I've spent over a week on this here and there. Installing (and iLok authorizing) Altiverb 6.1 was an extremely simple and easy process - it took me maybe 10 minutes... this, in contrast is going on and on...
I have current WUP, have posted on the Waves Forum several times, and just keep getting vague email replies from Waves techs; for example saying:
My name is Kobi, your Waves Update Plan is valid until 11/04/08, therefore you will be eligible to receive our technical support for any of your Waves products until 11/04/08.
As for the performance issues the 5.9.7 is a Beta version therefore I can not guaranty the performance.
You can choose to use the AU format of the old plug-ins, in this case remove Waveshells 5.9.7 or use the Beta version (remove any Waveshell bellow 5.9.7)
Any info from anyone who has Waves Beta AU version 5.9.7 working within DP 5.12 or 5.13 on a PPC Mac (or other) and OS X 10.4.10 or 10.4.11 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Phil J.

By the way, I forgot to remind people that when you're done installing the beta, you're supposed to run this little app called:
Waves_AU_Regi_Util_5.9.7_Beta.app
It only takes a few seconds to run it. Waves Tech Support had me running it after authorizing my MultiMaximizer today. I assume you're supposed to run it after any installation.
This seems to have fixed it! Thank You Shooshie! I looked back over this post and bingo! One thing I hadn't tried... I still have 11 plug-ins that failed the AU Examination... but it's a start!
And BTW - Yes I agree, Waves installation and authorization is convoluted, complicated and at times completely illogical.
I would still like to hear from anyone re: WaveShell 5.9.7 Component's whereabouts... I have it in all 3 locations now!!!

It should be in Library-> Audio->Plug Ins->Components
