Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
This update is unreal, like the days of old. So many incredibly useful features and toys for free!
Does anyone know if you can run 4.5 and 4.6 on the same machine? I'd like to install 4.6 to check out the new stuff but don't want to compromise what is currently the most stable DP I've ever had.

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
I've been getting random CPU overloads as well, even though the average CPU is around maybe 4 or 5%. This never happened with 4.52 on even 96kHz projects (and this current project is 44.1/24, but it's got a lot of tracks, but most are muted). Buffer is set to 512. Dual 2.7 G5 with 6.5GB RAM, tracks and samples on separate internal SATA drive.
I also just hit a crash where the crashed thread's backtrace terminates with Kontakt. This happened after double-clicking a soundbite in the Soundbite Window and then clicking the "I" icon in that window's menu bar.

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
I think it was Brian Ralston, can't remember 4 sure, who was looking for an Audio-MIDI plug-in. Well, this update has just that:
"Converting audio to MIDI data
Got an audio performance that you'd like to convert to MIDI data? Copy Digital Performer's pitch segments from the audio track and paste them into a MIDI track...." (etc.)
Tres Coooool

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Think I'll wait to see what more brave souls are saying. Go's comments concern me -
I'm dying to see 4.6 in action, if it really does work then DP is now ahead of everyone else as far as I'm concerned.

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
i've been working with the pitch automation......it's awsome, but, is there any way to have a note sound as you're draging it around? it doesn't have to be the vocal track, just some tone to let you know what pitch you're adjusting to.[/QUOTE]
If there is something to do that, that would be great, but you can always look at the keyboard on the left (it shows the note you are adjusting to, but not so easy to see), and then you can play the note on a keyboard if you're not sure what it sounds like.

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
Anyone with DFHS getting the multi-out thing working ? If so, please post a short how-to.
Thanks,

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
I am glad i hesitated, and did not buy the vst wrapper. I will spend that money on altiverb instead.
now, if they will just follow through with mach5 2.0

What's this about VST-wrapper? I didn't see anything on MOTU's site about VST...??

Simple: select the pitch segment (i.e. by clicking it) and press Option+Spacebar to preview the sound.

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
Ran it on a second drive.
No switch for DCPUM.
Random track dropouts. (we'll see if it smooths out)
Not sure about automation cleanups. Will have to see in a week
when I get to it.
Anything else?

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT
Notice that when using the pen tool in the pitch automation view...as you move the pen up and down...the vertical keyboard on the left highlights the keys to show you what pitch you are at with the pen tool position. So...just watch the keyboard and you will know where you are drawing your pitch to, etc...Originally posted by dave pine:
