Same here. I started with DP 2.7 and don't have the original manuals any more, but I do have that letter.thanatopsis wrote:I've never had a serial number in any manual. I don't remember needing it for 4.5, but I did have to call them for 4.0. My 3.0 was a competitive upgrade, so maybe that is why.You know what the strange thing is...I don't remember having to use the serial number when upgrading to 4.5. Do you ?
I just now found a letter from 4 years ago in a box saying, "This is your DP registration serial number. Please write this number in your manual for future reference and technical support. We hope you enjoy using DP. We encourage you to write or call us about your experiences with DP."

Seems to me, MOTU's never taken the policy of admitting bugs - or announcing bug fixes until after they've fixed them (and usually only in some fine-print addendum). Par for them.Frodo wrote:I found the absence of bug fixes more than a bit conspicuous, too. I also found it a little strange that for a long time the only photos of DP5 were of the VI's only and not of any of the other features, such as the meter bridge or new sequence editor features, which I would think would be more important. On the site, the VI's once again get the first few pages of coverage. It makes me wonder if MOTU is pushing the basics and are skirting the details?Shooshie wrote:Nothing about bug fixes, etc. One has to assume. Or does one? We'll see soon enough.

Is it that the VI's are so great that they get top billing, or is it more that DP is expanding more into the realm of VI's than before?
Hmm. It does look interesting and I will get it, but not until summer, probably. I just spent the past 3-4 weeks getting my system running smoothly again after a bad spell, and I'm rather enjoying the new stability and functionality. I'm going to stick with 4.61 and OS 10.4.5 for a while--
... unless I read that some important bug fixes have indeed been addressed...
So, yeah, we have to wait and see what got fixed and what didn't.
With all that is involved with recording, mixing & blah blah blah, you guys don't even know where you put your serial #
Amazing !! You guys crack me up
Looks like a nice upgrade.
Soon we will have Photo shop pictures of DP5 for the impatient bleeding
