I know I don't have enough "group cred" yet to complain, but I'll risk it anyway, because the way MOTU (and other companies) handle situations like this goes against all business standards and customer relations models I thought were universal (until now).
But, being well into middle age, and having worked for several major companies (including developing and publishing software), I ask this question.
What ever happened to the iron clad mantra that my employers demanded of me, and I demanded of my people?
Projects must be:
1. Done right.
2. Done on time.
3. Done within budget.
Yes, one could say, ""but...but...," but to no avail. "If you can't do it, we'll hire someone who can.

"
Those of you who score to video under deadline, do you ever get away with "you can give me more time so I can get it right, or you can live with what I give you under deadline." ?
I know apps are increasingly complex, but it would be inconceivable to me and my colleagues through the years to announce a deadline, let it slide, and not say *anything* to your customers.
I guess it's true, the older we get, the more we sound like our parents. (No, when I was a kid, I didn't walk five miles to school through snowstorms.)
What the heck, let it slide, don't give your customers the courtesy of "we're working hard on it, sorry we're late, but we want it to be right."
Sorry, James et al., but I think it had to be said.
