I'm thinking of starting 'The Longest, Most Inconsistently Off-Topic Thread in History'
Just wanted to throw it out there... any thoughts?
It's just I'm thinking being consistently off-topic, while enjoyable in the main, is somehow not right for me, and TBH I'd feel more comfortable having the option of being inconsistently off-topic thus allowing for the occasional on-topic post from time to time.
Am I the only one to feel this way....?

So, if the topic of this thread is to be off-topic, does that mean that if we are on-topic that we are actually off-topic? In other words, Who's on first?

Yes I think you guys are right but so far the topic is dynamic.
It could be that we do our rambling here and do not hijack real threads or threads relating to MOTU as this is a real thread of sorts.
That said I miss NE fried clams.
AS in the comic BC "clams got legs".
I was given a mug that had birds on a wire that were made into music so I took it to my piano and played it, not the best of songs.

Exactly! That is why I'd feel more comfortable having the option of being inconsistent with my off-topicness, rather than consistent.

Yes, that's right!
Now I have three questions for you. Are all those gongs yours? do you really need that many? can I have one to put next to my drum kit please?

So if I answer will that be considered on- or off-topic?
1. no
2. yes
3. no
That was my setup for George Crumb's "Makrokosmos III Music for a Summer Evening." I got to play that for him a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, some of the equipment was borrowed.

If you google it you would get "buy it now at ebay", "find it for less at price.com" and more like that.
BC that was a deep post.

Well, I'm convinced.
The intention was to provide enough flexibility in the rules to allow the pondering or examination of various topics, whilst discouraging hovering anywhere too long.
By nature, topic changes are inconsistent, so perhaps the thread's title is misleading.
Should I modify the title to read, "The Longest, Most Inconsistently Off-Topic Thread in History"?
I don't see any immediate conflict with the thread rules due to this proposed change.
Maybe, as James is doing with UnicorNation, I'll monitor the thread's pooformance and tweak the MonkeyBB settings accordingly.
EDIT: Tell you what, I'll tweak that title now and see if it works.

So? Did it work?

Too early to tell, Jari.
I'll continue to monitor the thread's topic-change frequencies.
Essentially, we had a prediction of fixed-frequency meanderings in the original thread title, and I've now modified it to reflect the multiple-frequencied, new-fangled, unevenly-distributed topic alterations.
In English: Dunno yet.
