Yes I built this myself, that center area is a smoked window.kwiz wrote:Nice!
Did you build the room yourself, and whats the panel in the center for?
Floor is floated. It was a decent amount of work. I Dont mind all the questionskwiz wrote:Cool, did you float the floor/room, if not how's the bass transmission?
Looks like alot of work. My place has concrete floors covered with wood tiles. The walls and ceiling are concrete to but I do get some leakage from the windows. I'm trying to buy a bigger place but I'm afraid I won't be as lucky as I was to get this place. I'm probably going to have to build a room like you did that's why I have the questions.
See! I knew you could do it!kwiz wrote:Thanks for the info Newrigel!
Here it is. I had to due a photomerge (poor job I know) to get a panoramic view.
Double doh! One for mis-IDing your DA-88s, and the other for not getting any pics posted. Here's some... belated. I need a new place, but that's not happening anytime soon, sigh.kwiz wrote:Correction, they are DA-88'sqo wrote:kwiz, I thought I was the only one left with a DA98 and see you have 4 of them! I'm not using mine, but may rack it up just 'cause they look so cool
I'm both humbled and motivated by these pics. I'll post some tonight but, wow, you guys are uptown!
Talk about uptown, your equipment list is amazing!
Can't wait to see the photos.

First, I love the colors in your space. Very relaxing. And, those high ceilings must be nice!Karl wrote:qo, where do you have the g5 & ghost power supply hidden away? Those are the two noisiest & hottest pieces in my studio.
I really want to build a mini-machine room for these items but it seems there's a limit to the length of cable for the apple displays?
The V-Drums are fun. Can't say I've really put them to use yet as I'm not a drummer and every drummer that's stepped foot in here took a look and said "Uh, I'll run get my drums..." Oh well! They do come in really handy after a stressful day at work just to have something to bang on, hehkwiz wrote:You're such a humble person calling us "Uptown"
Your place is hot!!! I've been dreaming of owning some V Drums, and might have those or Yamaha DTxtreme IIs soon.
That's a Ztar, made by Starrlabs. It's the one that causes me the most stuck MIDI notes I think that's because it can send multiples of the same note at once e.g. from the chicklet frets, and from it's pads (the black thingy on the body where the neck and body meet). I have a theory, based on a thread on the CoreAudio list, that CoreAudio, or MOTU, doesn't handle multiple simultaneous note on's (without any note off's) for the same note well. I've never had stuck notes when plugged straight into a synth, so it's gotta be an interaction thing between this and Apple/MOTU.kwiz wrote:What kind of guitar is that on your console?
LOL! Roland had a special when I bought this where they threw in the tom I use it as a trigger to start and stop playback of the internal sequencer (this function is normally mapped to the rim of one of the cymbals and I kept accidently triggering it). I hadn't read the manual (natch) before playing these and the first time I accidently triggered this, the sequence volume was set way high and the resulting sound was like the world was ending. I was wearing phones, and about fell off the throneSpikey wrote: qo - love the little extra tom (pd80) on your lovely TD20 V-drums set up - sort of "1 tom louder"
Roland, yeah! And, I see a BFD box too! Have you used the keymap file for Roland that's on fxPansion's site? Or, maybe you created it! I haven't tried yet, but it's on the todo list.Spikey Horse wrote:I don't usually have them set up like this but it was fun while it lasted... oh look you can see an old DP3 box
Now that's both clever and cool..... but what to do with all those broken drum sticks ....?
Yes, more, more Mr. Spike!I'll post some better studio pics when I get round to taking some......
