what's the problem?
this aint a shiite vs. suni kind of discussion.
no ones life depends on what software or hardware they run.
From my perspective
i believe the poster is talking about running motu software as smoothly as he can. it is useful info.

relax guys.
No, but do you have anything better to do than make a useless post to a four month old thread? The last post to this thread was January 7 and then you come along with a "do you guys have to get pissy" post months after it ended. What value is that?

For what it's worth... since someone brought it up... this forum was intended to be primarily a forum for MACINTOSH users, but since this is indeed the hardware forum, Windows people post in there, which is fine... but your issues and experiences are often quite different from Mac users.
Which is why when I expand my system I will look elsewhere for my interface. I will sell my 896 HD, which works well enough on my A64 system and get something else. Heck, for the price of the Black lion modifications for my 896 hd on top of the price to get better preamps and wordclock, I can get something better from the box: maybe a RME FF800.

From my perspective, compared to a PC, the MAC is still a niche market item for people who want to spend more money on less hardware capacity. Not that both don't work, they do: not that they both don't have problems. They do! But for a site administrator to more or less say what has been my impression, that PC is second class citizen here, make me realize I need to look elswhere to spend my hard earned resources.

And although the original post was somewhat less than diplomatic in tone, there were some points to be made. Support for PC does suck (and I'll bet more PC users have MOTU than MAC. ) And the PC drivers are as automatic as a shovel. You jokers ever heard of an AUTORATE setting? It is the second half of 2006 afterall.

Sheesh!

Autorate: Simply said, when you change bitrate or sample depth in your software, the driver automaticly follows. No shutting down the program, going into the driver panel, changing the bitrate or sample depth, starting the program again. Heck, even my shi**y old STAudio Cport did that.

Hey, but if it already works that way on a MAC, I've made my point. 'Nuf said.
