I was having crash on quite a lot with 805, particularly with projects that have lots of samplers/RAM use. But 806 seems to have fixed it for me..
and to break it for some and fix it for others is also, most troubling.
DP11, 2019 16-Core Mac Pro, OS 14 Sonoma , 64GB RAM. RME HDSPe MADI FX to SSL Alphalink to SSL Matrix console, and multiple digital sub consoles. UAD Quad PCIe. Outboard stuff.
There has been a common function of every software that I have ever used over the past 15+ years that has been missing from DP 8 since it's release.
Try this it won't work. Copy a word document file name (or anything for that matter) and then try pasting that file name as a new DP project name. This has been a function of every DP version before 8 but this simple function has been MIA since the release of DP8. MOTU has been aware of this since it's release but they have yet to fix this.
It may seem like nothing to you but when you have to copy and paste client script names to identify the project 50 to 100 times a day it becomes a major PITA.
Of course I'm sure this function isn't an issue for most DP users but why is this common function being overlooked by MOTU? Like I said, I don't know of any software that doesn't allow you to paste something thus allowing you to create a project name.

Copy and paste doesn't work for me either. But, I am able to drag selected text from a Textedit window to the save dialog box and drop it into the filename field. You have to erase the default "untitled" name first.
Hi All,
Just stumbled on a problem today. This was all working on 8.05. MacPro 12-core, MOTU PCIe424, UAD2. S-80 plugged into MIDI timepiece and Yamaha Motif via its USB interface.
I created a new project, 2 tracks, 1 MachFive and 1 MIDI source for MachFive. When I play the piano, the MIDI notes are getting dropped, cut-off and delayed, no matter which sound bank I have loaded. Very strange.
So I created another new project with only 1 MIDI track with its output to the Motif XS and put it in RECORD mode so as to get the MIDI thru. I get the same performance/sluggishness as with the soft synths. I tried another MIDI interface for the input, same results.
I've tried multiple settings on the MIDI-Thru settings in DP to no avail. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Weird thing - I am running DP up on my new MP, and though it is working fine, for some reason it is not picking up Mach 5.
I have installed Mach 5 (inc. the new update) on the new MP.
I can start Mach 5 as a stand-alone app, it is recognized within Maschine (and in fact, within Maschine running within DP), but DP is not seeing it and doing the AU validation thing. The component is in the folder it should be in, but... nada.
I am going to delete the preferences file and see what happens.
Cheers,
BK
…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

hmmm... can't find a preferences file for DP, I always thought it would be in Library>Preferences, but there is nothing there.
Weirder and weirderer...
I am going through and installing my plugs on my new machine one-by-one.
So far, 'Pancake2' (Cable Guys) and 'Latency Fixer' (Expert Sleepers) are not being picked up by DP's AU validation process, even though the components are where they should be. hmmm...
Cheers,
BK

Are they 64-bit plug-ins?
If so...
/User/Library/Preferences/Digital Performer™ (it's a folder)
You'll want to trash "Audio Unit Info Cache." That will force all AU components to be rescanned and validated when you launch DP.
Many times it's permissions that causes these problems when you move from one computer to another, so you may have to do something about that if rescanning doesn't do the trick.

My user folder does not have a library sub-folder.
The Library>Preferences folder doesn't have a Digital Performer folder. Hmmm...

The Library is invisible by default.
One quick way to get there is to click on the Go menu and hit the Option key, that will toggle it on in the menu so you can select it.
You'll want to set the Finder preferences so it shows all the time. From any finder window, click on the Gear thingy in the toolbar and select View Options. You can make the Library visible from there.
You, my friend, have now earned yourself many beers, karmic good-luck points, or whatever else floats your boat. Name yer price!!! Thanx!!
Only by going to the Go menu, then toggling the option key, did the option for seeing 'library' come up in the Finder windows settings dialogue.
I had looked there first, thinking just that - maybe the library was hidden for some silly reason, but the tick box for library doesn't show up, unless you are looking at the library. Of course, that makes sense, right?
Geez, crazy!
Now Mach 5 shows up, but if I instantiate a 5.1 version, it causes DP to crash. [DP 8.06, 10.9.2, M5 3.2.1]
Oh well, part of the way there. I'll raise a tech note with Mr Motu tomorrow, I am too frazzled to keep going tonight.
Thanx again Dan.
Cheers,
BK

DP 8.06 crashes on project open more often than not, either without reason or due to problems with Mach Five v3 plugin. The next try is usually successful.
Does not automatically update waveforms anymore (shows just a colored stripe) in case the underlying file is changed by a third-party program (DP was closed at the time of change).
In Mavericks, you can check a box to make the User Library visible permanently. Open your user folder, Get Info and you'll see the box.
In OS 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9, the following Terminal command does the same thing. Paste the following into Terminal and hit the return key:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
DP 11.34; 828mkII FW, micro lite, M4, MTP/AV USB Firmware 2.0.1 2023 Mac Studio M2 8TB, 192GB RAM, OS Sequoia 15.4, USB4 8TB externals, Neumann MT48, M-Audio AIR 192|14, Mackie ProFxv3, Zoom F3 & UAC 232 32bit float recorder & interface; 2012 MBPs (x2) Catalina, Mojave IK-NI-Izotope-PSP-Garritan-Antares, LogicPro X, Finale 27.4, Dorico 5, Notion 6, Overture 5, TwistedWave, DSP-Q 5, SmartScore64 NE Pro, Toast 20 Pro
I haven't had any crashes in 8.06 (64 bit), on quit or otherwise. Was on OS 10.9.1. Just recently updated to 10.9.2.

Please disregard above. Found the problem to be a stuck button on the S-80 which was flooding MIDI controller data. Once clear, DP 8.06 on the latest mavericks seems to be rockin!!
Thanks for listening and thanks to MOTU for some awesome products.
