Ok ... I think I'm getting somewhere...

just ran the Apple Hardware Test and got an error returned ... coded

4MEM/40/40000001 : B:O:C:1 R:3

Anyone have any clues what this means?

You don't think i tried that? If these posts are wasting your time but you have enough time to "Let Me Google That For You" ... your wasting your non-wastable time.

People use forums AFTER google and try to go right to the source of good info from the members of forums like these.

Disabling the V-rack hosting a master fader with Ozone makes huge difference here too.
I turn it on only when buffer is maxed.
It's my basic tracking/mixing strategy.

BTW, I've seen that closing, or hiding, unnecessary windows will free some CPU, sometimes in a dramatic way.
I highly recommend experimenting around this.

It's faulty RAM.

First off, thank you all for the helpful responses. It's much appreciated and I'm glad there's people here willing to actually help.

After Hardware tests, here are my results

Add RAM installed (2x4GBstick, 2x2GB sticks, and 2x512MB sticks)
AHT Results: error 4MEM/40/40000001 : B:0 C:1 R:3

2x4GB and 2x2GB RAM sticks installed
AHT results: error 4MEM/40/40000001 : B:0 C:1 R:3 (same as above)

2x2GB sticks only
AHT results: error 4MEM/40/40000001 : B:0 C:0 R:1

2x4GB sticks only
AHT results: error 4SNS /1/ 40000001 : VMBS

The only thing I haven't done is test ONLY the 512MB RAM sticks but seeing how I'm getting error codes on all tests, I imagine I'll get the same.

But here's my quandry, the iStat menu shows the Memory under QUADRO FX 4500 as pinned. Could this be a Video Card issue? Could the Video Card be causing the processor spikes and all these issues?

I appreciate ALL the help!! :D

Hi,

I have the same problem since upgrading to Mavericks. I found out though that the cause is a Bud receiving from a Rewire output (in my case Sibelius).
When I disable the Rewire Track everything goes back to normal.

I hope this helps.

Take care.

Andrea

I'm not exactly sure what that means ... but when I do look at my crash reports i do see Finale listed in the crashed threads. something about the mdImporter.
With your issue, was your GPU Memory meter pinned like mine is?

Let's see... How many posts in this thread and you still haven't mentioned which version of Finale you have?

More than once, when you have had problems, I have suggested that you post a hardware and software profile. You still have yet to do so - I mean one that tells anyone else what you have.

In this case, I know what you're problem is. It's fairly well known, actually. Without a detailed profile, I can't tell you how to fix it. You see, the installed versions that you have of certain software tells someone like me where you should look for the offending culprit. It makes a difference.

The only helpful info you have received in this thread was from MLC when he suggested a Google search. Everyone else is guessing.

Yes.

I'm just trying to fix my DP issue and computer. I'm not trying to waste anyone's time. This could be a mixture of a myriad of issues and I'm trying to single it down to one or two. After extensive research and trying to narrow down the troubleshooting, I mentioned possibly a Finale mdImporter file being an issue.
I have Finale 2011r2 and Finale 2012rc2 on my machine.

I appreciate your insight and suggestions. I apologize for not following your comment as it may have slipped through my routine of troubleshooting for 10 hours straight.

re: posting a hardware and software profile, I'm not sure how to do so. Looking at my Software profile in my system profiler, I have Finale 2003 through 2007 on a separate drive (used to boot up an old system OS 10.5.8).
I have Finale 11 and 12 on my current system drive.

I'd be glad to post Hardware and Software information if it'll help. I have been Googling and researching and even on the phone with Apple Specialists.

I appreciate, again, all the help.

Love and Peace to all. I'm just trying to get help. I'm sorry if I've upset anyone and I'm sorry this has resorted to childish name calling and jabs. I don't wish to partake in such behavior.

I just want to make music and try and have peace with everyone. I'm sorry if I'm not as advanced in my computer knowledge as some/most people so forgive my ignorance.

I do appreciate all the help thus far and appreciate any more insight.

I'm running memtest right now. It's taking a while but hopefully that might give some answers.
