When I did a manual Check for Updates, it took me to an 8.04 download link which refreshed a second later and gave me the correct 8.05 link. Obviously a hiccup on the MOTU web site. No big deal - it downloaded smoothly, installed and is running fine.

There's a minor monitoring bug that i won't be able to test till my next overdub session. We'll see if it gets fixed this time. Since it's annoying only and there's a workaround, I'm not that concerned.

Same issue here!
I zoomed in and it was, in fact, off a little bit. Not as much as stated above, but not close enough IMO. But I could fix it! Here's what worked for me:

1 -Start a NEW project.
2- Import some audio.
3- Place it in a track.
4- Copy or cut it and move the wiper.
5- Hit the key command for the paste to wiper.

That seems to have fixed it. I zoomed in as far as I could and I was sample accurate with maybe a half a sample of distance between the wiper and the pasted soundbite.

At one point, the paste to wiper command seemed to stick, in that I could just hit cmd-v and it would go to the wiper. It seems that the key for me was a new project, then older projects (so far) have worked perfectly. I also toggled and reset the grid settings. What I noticed is that the check box for the grid seems to activate briefly when I hit the paste to wiper command. That could be the "bug" (it's pasting to the nearest grid setting). You guys might try setting the grid markers and see if it is the same as the distance that the paste is off by.

Ignore that comment. I was using the CMD key as part of the key command and that toggles the grid checkbox. Duh!
Hope that makes sense and helps a bit.

FWIW. On my PC Windows laptop it worked initially. But after repeating the command the soundbites jumps all over the place with variable results... :/

I just got on the bandwagon and bought DP 8. When I downloaded it, I got 8.05. I can't vertically re-size the tracks in the SE window by dragging the edge anymore. Is anyone seeing this, or is there something I'm missing in version 8?

CMD arrow up/down should do that. Also in the Tracks window now.

This version doesn't fix my video issues (described here among other places: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... =1&t=53015). Everything still turns to sludge if I open a movie in DP8.05. Clearly I (still) need to get a new video card to join the DP8 party.

It would seem so. That sucks but think of all the fun you'll have! Just make sure it's the card and not something else! Any 3rd party video stuff that could be the cause?

Update on my last post. This only seems to be happening on audio tracks. I can resize MIDI, aux, master fader, and conductor track by dragging. :? Is there a lock audio track size button somewhere or somethin'?

I think the video problems with Digital Performer are different depending on the Mac OS X system used . This should be better conducted under 10.8.

Nah. Everyone with my card has the same issue. MOTU just told me in a TechLink that I should get a newer card.

Thx!

They are probably phasing in access to avoid melt down. The alternatives you posted work.

Are these fairly recent files? Created in the past few months?

Are they made with an old template?

Just gathering information; not that I'm on to anything. But if we're going to figure this out, we've got to find the differences between those of us for whom it's working 100% and those who're getting errors.

I tried pasting all over some tracks, and it always nailed it. Not even a tiny bit off. The location for the soundbite/MIDI event is always the same location for the counter. Zoom in all the way, and the soundbite is off by 2/250,000 of a second, if my estimation is accurate. I guess that would be 1/125,000 sec. That is much smaller than a sample, so I guess it's still sample accurate. (I counted 25 subdivisions of 1/10,000 sec., and it was off by 2 of them.) Interestingly, when I performed the paste while zoomed in that far, it was exact! No discrepancy whatsoever.

I wonder if it has anything to do with how a soundbite has been processed.
Or Audio Plugin Delay Compensation.
Or the audio interface and/or its settings.
Or Time formats. (tried this, no difference)

Well, I've played with it for about an hour, and I can't get it to do anything it's not supposed to do.

I'm running 8.05 on 10.6.8. Concerning paste/merge/splice to wiper. For me, it seems to work as advertised, if I remember to deselect (cmd D) everything first. It pastes to the nearest sample, always rounding up from the wiper.
