Well, not as tactile as hardware, but there is Neyrinck V-Control Pro. Factor in the cost of a used 1st-gen iPad (which runs V-Control Pro just fine), and you're looking at about $300. Still, I understand the appeal of "real" faders, buttons and knobs.
I cant stand touching glass with all of it’s inherent delays. I dont think all that ipad technology is ready for prime time yet. There is lag and it is not accurate. When I get close to a finished mix, I am adjusting in .2 db increments. I could just see trying to trim a fader with an ipad....yikes!
Even the Eucon isn;t accurate enough for my liking at mix end.
It seems I always want 5-10 yrs in advance of “current” technology. I remember blowing out every new version of pro tools, eating up all the “new power” and wanting more. Same with DP.
The day .2 db faders moves can be made easily and sample accurate on 100+ tracks with 7 major plug ins on each track, and tons of bussing and VIs, is the day I might be happy...lol.
Like I said, 5-10 yrs from now.
You apparently have not used an iPad2 or later, with some of the controller apps. They work in tiny increments without delay. Of course, I haven't tried it on your Peterbilt convoy templates. Most of my loads could be carried in a wheelbarrow these days. I haven't done a huge layout like that in probably 6 years now. Still, the iPads are amazing. Don't knock these things.

While I agree that it's no where near as precise, I think it's a bit better than you're making it out to be. I use an iPhone for quick automation sometimes (I'm more of a manual, out-of-time automation guy, usually), and it's surprisingly decent. The difference is that instead of actually moving your thumb, you simply roll it up and down to make fine adjustments. You can get pretty detailed by doing these slight thumb rotations, and since there's no "stickiness" as with all faders to some extent, you can make as small adjustments as you want. However, once you start needing to make larger adjustments and moving your finger around, grabbing different faders, it falls to pieces, but for one-at-a-time fader automation, it actually has its advantages.
