The GSR is a grossly underrated speaker btw - It is M-audio gear so it was a surprise that they sound so good.

I have used many MANY, speaker systems over the years, including the much vaunted Bose L1 system...the GSR's are the first system I have taken out of the box, plugged everything in started to play, and then tweaked.......nothing!!

No adjustments, no minor eq changes nada! And they are sooo quiet...

I took a bit of a punt with them (but a really good price!!) as I have owned m-audio gear (as in PC audio) and had issue after issue...but these...a great buy!!

Hi Joden,

Just to clarify, your inquiry was posted on the 28th of October and answered on the 31st. I count 3 days there

Wow!

Sounds like there may have been some very welcome changes made in the MOTU tech support dept. since I last submitted a cat 1 which led to a driver update release but which initially went unread for 7 weeks.

Well done guys. Keep it up.

I'll still root for you if you really have managed to turn a corner here.

MOTU is good kit. Let down by poor support. Hopefully - in the past.

 I stand corrected Lorne :sorry: ...certainly seemed longer, but then the time delays between USA and Oz can make things seem longer somehow!!

Yes three days is okay (not as quick as some, but MUCH quicker than most!!). That's a pass :headbang:

Dennis

PS: btw it is now a Pass with Distinction....Lorne replied to my supplementary question within hours!!

Yep I would also now rate tech support as very good too!

Yes, the output is plenty "hot" enough to drive powered speakers and other pro gear. Be aware that pretty much every amplifier in existence puts out full level with less than 8 dBu input. There are a few ways you can find out the level:

1. Set it up and try it out yourself.
2. Ask MOTU what the max output level is (I did this and heard back in a week).
3. Determine the max output level yourself by sending a full scale sine wave tone plugin from your DAW to an output, and measure the hot and cold of the output with a voltmeter. Then plug that voltage into a dB calculator.

I have it written down somewhere, but it is at least 14 dBu, and at most 20 dBu.

Also, the note someone had about powered speaker impedance is incorrect. The speaker driver impedance may indeed be 4 or 8 ohms, but that's not the input to the amplifier that your MOTU would see--that would be more in line with typical line level gear, 10k or more input impedance.
