Oops! Actually, I was referring to the "How to Map DP Key Commands step by step here. Once you make your first button, you're on your way." :D

DP and KeyPad Pro on iPad

Ok, here's my brief and simplistic "tutorial" on how to set up a template in Keypad Pro to emulate DP7 keystrokes

Keypad Pro buttons for DP7
This assumes you've already connected the app to your Mac as per the built in help and video tutorials included with Keypad Pro. I'm certainly no expert but, as I mentioned in my earlier post using the app has really helped my workflow.

Create a new keypad and name it DP, then select it by tapping it
Hit the Edit button to enter Edit mode
Hit the Add button and a new button appears
Tap it to edit it, a pop up for editing will appear, the Properties tab should be selected
Choose Button from the options along the bottom
Fill in a name in the Caption field, choose a color
Hit Functions tab next to the Properties tab at the top
Choose the key combinations in the bottom pane that you want to emulate in DP, don't have to change anything else

Tap anywhere on the screen to close the pop up
Still in edit mode, hold and drag the button where you want it.
At the top center of the Edit screen you will see a button Fast Modes. Tap it until you get to Rotate/Scale, then you can use 2 fingers to enlarge the button or tap it to rotate
For me it's easier to duplicate a button from the pop up then edit it rather than Add a new one. I've only done buttons, but the app is more flexible that just this, but this is a far as I've progressed
Hit done and start using it

Btw, all this is in the tutorials. I hope this can help you get started.

KeyPad Pro just released a great update for iOS5. Thought I would share my updated layout:

If anyone is interested, I just copied my template to a new file that lets me email it to other KP Pro users. It was locked before, but now seems free to share. Some of it relies on quickeys, but most of it uses DP 7 key commands. Let me know if you would like a copy of it.

Here's a link to the Keypad file. I believe the best way to do this is to download the file, and then email it to your iPad. You can open it directly to Keypad from inside iPad's mail app. Just remember that it uses some non-standard DP key commands to operate.

very kind of you thanks! However, it is requiring a user name and password to access you site. Neither of which I have I'm afraid.

Well, that's a bummer. When I try to import from my email, I get the error:

"Cannot process artwork files from previous versions of KeyPad Pro. You will need to reassign the artwork after importing it into your Photo library."
And then it doesn't import anything.

I have tried importing the icons in that file into iphoto and then to my ipad. They show up in iPhoto, but do not import to my iPad.

would you be able to post it to the Keypad forum using the in-app tools? I know the layouts will dl successfully from there.

Tripi:

Thanks, and I know that this isn't your life's work(!) but when I download the zip file and then extract and attach the resultant folder to an email which I receive in the iPad 2, it still shows as being zipped..."DP7.keypad 236 KB" with the icon that indicates zipped.

If I click on it, it asks if i want to open in KeyPadPro, which I do.

However, it doesn't seem to appear in the primary window. I have a few there (Mac, Basics, and one entitled Import_1073741829) but none look like your cool screenshot. So I'm guessing that it's not being opened. I also tried the zipped file just to see what might happen...same scenario.

Thanks!

Sorry guys... I'm not exactly sure about the way this works. I do believe you need to use the .zip file, and email that to your iPad. To import into KeyPad, tap and hold on it, and choose open in KeyPad Pro. I'm kind of excited that the zip contains all of the custom graphics I made, and the app icons I imported. Hope someone gets it to work. Also, make sure you have the latest version of KP. They just updated it for iOS5.

Tried all that...no luck yet!
iPad 2, IOS 5 and Version 9 of KPP...

Maybe someone else can jump in on how to get the template to load.

(Or...eventually...I'll try to create my own.) :banghead:

I just submitted the template to the KeyPad Pro forum. They have to approve the artwork before posting, but it should be available soon.

Btw... I emailed the template to myself, and tried importing it. It worked, but it was all blank. It also wrote over my original one (!). Fortunately I had a duplicate backup.
