I'm really impressed!
But don't worry about DP7. The workflow is more fluid, as it takes advantage of a better management of the memory. I don't know why, but my musical life has changed. I couldn't accept DP6, but these time, we are talking about an other DAW.

I really hope & wish that DP8 upgrade comes with a --varispeed function--as simple as logic 9 some may think not so necessary but others like my self that loves that old school 2inch fx will LOVE it......
Interesting topic, and how nice to see some old familiar 'faces' on here still.
I also bought into the world of DP at version 2.7, just before the version 3 update came out. I think I got to version 5 and then life was happening too much and I kind of stopped using it.
I've lateley got back into it again and am wanting to get an upgrade. I am wondering though - it seems DP7 has been out a fair while now. I know it's the classic silly question, but is there liekely to be a DP8 out soon. ie, would it be worth waiting a little while, or should I get my DP7 upgrade now?!?
There never really is advance notice. Only MOTU and the beta testers know for sure and I don't think they even tell the beta testers until the release is about to hit the charts. I believe (basedon what I've hear from reliable sources) that DP will finally be 64 bit, but whether or not that is an incremental release or in DP 8 is again, one of the unknown-unknowns that we we know that we don't know know.

Well there is a pretty reliable time line for these things. What's important thing is the company continues to improve the app and adds competitive and useful features.

I remember one upgrade - 5 maybe? - being announced at Winter NAMM then taking forever to deliver. The nice thing was that, if you upgraded to the current version (if 5, that would have been 4.6) you got the announced version at no extra charge when it came out. I took advantage of that offer.
I figure that, if we don't see an announcement in January, it's going to be quite a while before we do.

I hate upgrades. For me they mean forking out money that I don't have for improvements that often aren't improvements at all, just a new way of doing the same old things. And they bring with them a new set of bugs that have to be dealt with and often other apps that also must be upgraded. So I put off upgrading as long as possible.
I was perfectly happy with my Walkman and my VHS, thank you.
