I 1000% agree with this! On PT HD or LE, during playback I can copy and paste, edit, manipulate all day with no issues. Over the years of my struggling with DP, I have come to the conclusion, DP is an inferior design and not stable. I cannot specifically pinpoint where the problem lies. To me it almost seemed like "the software would lose connection with the interface hardware?"amplidood wrote:Yes, the process of handling audio and MIDI on a computer is a technically complex one. However, older versions of DP on older machines, older drives, older OS, older *everything* didn't have this problem. There's honestly no reason for a state of the art, cutting edge OS and DAW to have a problem that older versions did *not* have, and then blame it on the technology. That doesn't make sense.
The one fact that makes it clear where the problem lies is that if you option-drag data (thus copying it), the glitch doesn't happen. If you copy-paste it using key commands, it does glitch.

Re: Copy and Paste during playback issues
Please, Keith,
There is a forum for bitchin', but this isn't it. If you don't have some specific problems that you wish to work on, this isn't the forum for your posts, and they will be moved to the "Theoretical Discussions, Gripes, Petitions & Off Topic" forum. Seeing that you have a list of gripes you'd like to air now that you're going back to Pro Tools, that would be the place for it. Don't worry, most of us read that forum, too.
While it never ceases to amaze me how much work I can get done in DP when I need to, and how stable it is for me, and how smooth the operation, it amazes me even more that some people cannot get it to work for them on any machine, no matter how much work they put into maintenance. Software is truly a mystery sometimes. Sorry your experience with DP has not been as great as many of ours, or more accurately, your experience has been downright awful. It's sad. Almost makes me feel guilty that I have such good luck with DP overall. Almost a guilty feeling. But not quite!
I used DP to make my living starting in the Performer days, back in about 1987 up to 2007. Twenty years, and I never lost any critical data. Ever. It never crashed while working, except for power outages. (later, I had all my clients get battery backup power supplies) Anyway, there's a long list of people who use DP all day, every day, with very few negative incidents between them all. The people have spoken: DP Rocks! But as they say, different strokes for different folks. I'm sure you'll be happy where the software works best for you.

Re: Copy and Paste during playback issues
Sorry,
Hadn't been here in a long time, didn't want to complain. Didn't realize Troubleshooting/Criticism had moved.
Again, I always have appreciated everyone here.
Peace & Community
