Hey, thanks for that reminder, Zed. I completely forgot about that. I'll be attending to that as soon as I log out.

I have my mighty mouse set up as a single button mouse. Meaning, When I need right-click functionality, I "control-click" and hold down the control key on the keyboard, while clicking on an item to get a contextual menu. Pretty old-school, I know.
Unfortunately in DP 7.2 that doesn't work. I am only able to call up a Contextual Menu when setting my mighty mouse to have a "secondary button" in system prefs.
This is not the end of the world, but it does make DP the only Mac application that behaves this way that I have ever come across!
In any case, I'l off to submit a technote. Can anyone else replicate this behavior?
Are you having this issue only in the right pane of the Tracks Overview? That's where I can duplicate this, however CMs work okay on the left pane and also work okay in the Sequence Editor.
I have my right mouse button mapped to right-click, but also it worked when mapped to Ctrl-Click. I should add though that I had to switch from USB Overdrive to Logitech Control Center to get the contextual menu to work properly in the right pane of the Tracks Overview.
James Steele wrote:It will only override if it is present. If you look at the listing of the theme bundles when you open the Themes folder from the Themes preference pane, you will see that "2 Medium Light (Default).bundle" is only about 16K. Much smaller than the others. This is because the graphics making up that theme are largely contained in the DP 7.2 app itself. Other themes have new graphics that will override it.
That's great news James! So it really will be quite simple once you locate the images you want to change. I look forward to making some more tweeks soon.
It will also allow us to duplicate our variation themes and make variations on the variations to try slight changes or experiments without having to quit and relaunch DP each time. I like it very much.
Amplidood wrote:Well friends, I wish I could say that it was going to be quick and easy to get AmpGUI mods into this new theme system. It's not. The good thing about that is this.... it means they've nearly completely unlocked the box and made so many things possible that I've wanted to do for a long time. It also means a lot of work for me to make everything fit into the new architecture and try not to miss any details.
This all comes at an extremely busy time in my life, so here's hoping I can find some space to do all this in. The new built-in themes are much better than the stock GUI, so you all should be able to survive for a while till I can get it all figured out.
I'll also have an upgrade policy figured out soon. I know MOTU can roll out huge stuff like this for free, but it's not so easy for little ole me.

Interesting, I am unable to call up a menu with control-click in the right pane of both the Track Overview and the Sequence Editor.
Left pane works fine in both though and also the mixer... very curious.
I don't have any additional mouse drivers installed and am using a standard apple Mighty Mouse.

Bummer...this means that 7.12 is the end of the line for me, unless I buy

Could you just install Leopard on your PPC? 10.5.8 works fine on mine.
Existing behaviors which utilize clicking while holding the Control key take precedence over the contextual menu. That is, when Control-click is already used in a particular context for a different function, you must use right-click to access the contextual menu.
Regarding this text from the PDF...
Can anyone think of an existing behaviors which utilizes clicking while holding the Control key?
I can't think of any action that I perform that requires this. Especially since control-clicking didn't work prior to today... hmm...
EDIT: I see one in the T.O. holding control down changes the hand tool to a crosshair, however I usually just move the cursor to the edge of the track to get this change or more commonly, I hold down control and command when making a grid-free selection.
Looks like I need to think about getting a nicer mouse so I can dust off ye olde right-click button!

Have you tried to see if the installer will actually run on 10.4.11? Sometimes these things aren't hard and fast and you may be able to install anyway. I'd back up your MAS Plug-Ins folder first. It might just be discouraged or unsupported.
James Steele wrote:You may have to just enable that right-click?
I will. I'm going to get a different mouse. The mighty mouse requires you to remove a finger to make a click. Pretty annoying, so I disabled it and have done so since 2005...

Yep - tried running the installer on my PPC - get the message "this install
requires OSX 10.5.8, which is not on this machine".
Can't go to Leopard because I have Native Instruments VI's that won't run
on PPC/Leopard.
Oh well - let's see, can't use the themes, redraw of merged soundbites is
still a bit slow - other than that, I'm good..I'll live. The contextual menus, etc., aren't features I need or would use anyway.
If you want to try this it might work - get a machine with 10.5.8 or higher and start your machine in target mode. Install from the first machine onto your disk. Just be sure the plugs all go on your HD.
