I am amazed, but all my Elemental Audio stuff is still working. It even works on my Mavericks machine running DP 8.05 in 64 bit mode with 32 Lives. If I ever lose it, it's gone for good. For whatever reason the authorization has survived all the OS upgrades.

Even though this thread is plenty long I thought I would chime in.

Blue Cat has a free bundle that's actually very usable - check it out:

We like the bluecat stuff for sure! But we have really been blown away with the isotope Insight. So fast and easy to use, and the presets were definitely designed by mix and mastering engineers. Way way cool.

Are you kidding? It hasn't occurred to anyone that there may be estate issues? When people pass away, they can leave behind a complicated mess. I know little of Mr. Nichols except that I worked for him once on an album and that his former partner is my boss, so this is mere speculation. It makes more sense to me than someone's ego being bruised but perhaps you are right.

Back to the OP, I use Izotope Insight which is available separately or bundled with Ozone 5 Advanced and RX 3 Advanced (both of which I have). I like Ozone but RX 3 A. is a miracle worker, IMO.

Mr. Nichols was still alive when this stuff was written in February of 2010, so unless another partner had died, I don't think estate issues were a factor. What I was referring to at that time was the loss of the Elemental Audio product line, which was sold to Roger Nichols, whose company then proceeded to change it up, go out of business, and withhold the products from the public. I knew more details then than I do now, so I won't argue the case, but I used to be pretty upset about the whole deal. Many of us really loved and depended on the meters, and there were some other plugins that I always wanted to try, but they had been changed beyond recognition, and I then they became unavailable, anyway. I seem to recall something about someone in the company trying to make them available despite the closing of the company, but again, I don't remember enough details now to make any sort of judgment. I've moved on to Blue Cat Audio's fantastic metering system, which has completely made me forget about the old EA meters. Still, the EA meters worked for me until I switched to 64 bits, which was really unusual for any kind of plugin or other software. Great stuff!

I never had the opportunity to work with Roger Nichols, but I'm sure it was an interesting experience for you. When I've worked with well-known people in the industry, it's always left me with stories and usually good lessons well-learned. At this point, it doesn't matter to me how he ran his company or anything else, as I'd rather let his spirit rest in peace with his legendary status richly remembered.
