Wow - I hope that really does turn out to work like in Pro Tools. I'll be delighted. I love how easy it is in PT to select a region of volume automation, for example, and just drag it to raise or lower it regardless of whether it already has breakpoints, and right in the track near the cursor it displays the level in dB. Much more cumbersome in DP, where you have to first enter breakpoints one at a time, and then drag the lasso to select them...
bralston wrote: Can scale automation throughout a section as well. But there are more tools now and they are great.
-Hold the cmd key while moving a fader and that fader instantly moves with "fine" resolution. So you can get even more details with the automation movement.
Cool.
bralston wrote:-Autocheck for DP updates. So you can stay up to date automatically if you desire...or at least know when an update is available right away.
Nice.

Great! Lots of people around here have been wanting this for years.

Go, MOTU!

Any news for context-sensitive menu?

Sounds like the start of a new era. Lots of great new DP features. Smartboard (Smartechnologies) just released a SL compatible version of their software last night (which is very cool for those who are using smartboards) and even Radiogal has a new avatar.

Lovely!

I really hope that 7.1 will be still in 32 bit along with 64. I wouldn't trade the old complex-obscure-but-working-most-of-the-time Carbon GUI for the first version of the "brand new 64 bit" Cocoa one.

- New ways to edit and use track folders
Have they added a way to mute and solo track folders? This is my number one wish for DP!

Yes. There is now a play button associated with the whole track folder too...so you can mute, solo or play enable/disable a track folder (and thus all of its contents) all at once.

DP 7.1 is not 64-bit, so you're covered.

I wish it was beautiful lady.
I installed DP 7 and it ran like a turtle. I know that if I completely gutted and re built my system I could probably get it smoking again, but I have too many project and no down time.
So, the usual attempted fixes didn;t help and I had to go back to 5.13.
Frustrating

Could it have been spotlight trying to index your disk? You can find out by running activity monitor and looking for MDS or MDS helper using 1/2 of your CPU! I found a utility called spotless that allows you to totally shut off spotlight until you want it to be one.

I for one would just like to say....

  DIE SPOTLIGHT DIE. DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE.

EVERY computer I ever work on I kill that piece of crap, over-intrusive, never ending process.

There's a freeware app called Butler that works just as well and a lot faster, as well as any number of free searching utilities. I personally use Path Finder, have for years. Going back to the normal Finder feels like going from a Lexus to a battery-powered kiddie car.
