Komplete 5 for these prices is beyond a good deal,if I didn't already have Kontakt 3 i would have no hesitation in getting this bundle,as it is I do not know if the other included VI's are that important to me to warrant purchasing but to get all of this for almost the same price as Kontakt by itself is amazing!

I like Leo, too, but find that when I'm in DP, I don't interface with the OS very much, so Tiger causes me no pain. And my system is (recent hard drive death excepted) very stable these days. I'm gonna' stick with Tiger until I move to Intel, which will not happen until Snow Leopard is purring smoothly while DP roars.
+1
couldn't agree more!

Mine has shipped. Yeah, I know what you guys mean about Tiger, and please remember I have been a long advocate of staying with Tiger on PPC systems. I should probably just make a boot partition for DP/Tiger and then boot Leopard for everything else. I know with apps like iPartition I can create a new partition without having to reformat the drive.
The problem for me was that I am using my machine for other stuff besides DP and there are lots of improvements in Leopard that I really like and gave up with great misgivings. I've already made, for example, 3 custom stationery templates for Mail in Leopard. I also like the look of the Finder and all the File Open/Save dialogs etc. are nicer. Also, my system seems a little bit.... snappier... lol... in Leopard. Although I suspect that DP is a tiny bit less efficient in Leopard. Fortunatley, most of my use is recording audio and not so much VIs, so I'll deal with it.
Back to the Komplete deal... no way around it that if, like me, you didn't own Kontakt 3 (which is going to be 3.5 any day now, right?) and the library that comes with it, it's a no brainer. Mine is on its way.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I already have more sounds than I could ever use and great programs I have yet to fully explore.
But the idea of getting these modules I've read about for so long at 30 bucks apiece was just too hard to resist. I'm in.

This thing got me thinking. I probably would never have bought either Komplete 5 or even just Kontakt 3 if it wasn't for this deal. MOTU should do something like this, offering DP6 + MachFive 2 for $399 or somesuch just before the next paid upgrade of DP. Would be a good way to expand the user base, don't you think?
I'm sure NI's selling boatloads of Komplete 5 right now and lots of the people that buy it now is gonna upgrade in due time. Also a bigger userbase means more third party soundlibraries etc. Which is one of the reasons a haven't used MachFive much, didn't find the included sounds very useful and there's hardly any sounds available for it...

Since it came up regarding the posting of deals like this one (and I missed out!) can I ask what this particular promo code is about? Is it supposed to be specifically for vendors or another specialised group or is it a free-for-all, so to speak.

I don't know. It only works on the second checkout screen as mentioned. I didn't really even bother to question the origins of this code. I certainly hope this was some sort of special code not meant for the public or anything. Maybe the OP can illuminate us?

I originally thought that's what mhschmieder was getting at, the divulging of the promo code.

I just re-read his posts and and I don't see that at all. He seemed to be talking about endorsing specific vendors like Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, etc.

Maybe mhschmieder is confusing forum policy with my sparring with Brad at Sweetwater? I regret giving him (Brad) ANY grief in the past and now know his intentions are purely professional and helpful. I shop Sweetwater often and greatly appreciate his presence here. I wish other vendors would do the same, but since Brad is participating, he'll get my business first. Oooops! Is that an endorsement?
I must say, however, I am extremely jealous of his studio and equipment. My resources are somewhat more ... limited... although "bounce to tape" works well enough...

That's why they have the promo code box. I'm sure multiple promotions are going on simultaneously.
For example, this weekend (ends today?) they were having their red white and blue sale and if you called them and said "blue" you got a discount. There was 15% off purchases up to 499 or something, so if you purchased Komplete 5 with the "blue" promo it would have cost you $340.

DO you think it's that tightly controlled? They want to make the sale and if they are offering a package to 500 people, I'd bet they'd be happy to sell 750 units at the same 'low' price. You know, once the software is written and packaged (assuming it's not a download) then it's pure profit once the overhead is recovered. Think of it as royalties are to music. It's not like you;re stealing. You are still giving them $$$ for their product.

True. Not to mention, Native Instruments is literally DUMPING Komplete 5 on the marketplace. You can get it from THEIR OWN web shop for the $399. I imagine they have slashed the cost to the retailers. It's also pretty darned smart, because I could see this potentially expanding the Kontakt user base, which frankly doesn't necessarily bode well for MachFive as someone else alluded to earlier.
I called a friend of mine earlier today to hip him to this deal since he doesn't own Kontakt either and figured by virtue of the fact that he's actually a REAL keyboard player who recently bought a new Mac Pro he'd be all over this, but he didn't sound too excited. He had just bought Omnisphere but hadn't installed it yet.

To MLC: You're confusing me with someone who's disagreeing with you. It's a dump/fire/economy sale for sure.
And to James, this could indeed be a smart move to expand their base and get a head start on some additional upgrade fees as well. I can also appreciate the reaction of your keyboard playing friend- as an owner of Omnisphere I'm quite sure the sound of and sounds in Omnisphere are superior to a lot of what is contained in Komplete.
But certainly there's a lot of interesting material in Absynth, B4II, perhaps the acoustik pianos, Reaktor, FM8 etc. etc. that could prove useful and inspiring, and especially at 30 bucks a pop for these programs I just had to jump.
