And PC's are cheaper, too! Wow! We could all have had a PC! If only we'd known.

Great thinking, also, to use the more stable PC in the studio where you wouldn't want to have to waste time rewinding tape while rebooting a crashed computer. Use that crashy Mac on stage where you're not paying for the expensive Studer rental. I don't know why I never thought of that. Just great ideas all around.

And writing music, too! Great idea! You can do that in the time you save, not having to reboot all the time. I like this! Just more productivity all around, right? It just keeps getting better. Wayne, what do they pay an idea-man like you over at Gearslutz? We'll double it!

Wayne: FmIguelez is essentially correct. The Windows section on this board is a courtesy. I starts this board nearly two decades ago as UnicorNation and there was NO section for Windows users. But they started showing up and posting anyway, so I felt it best to make a separate area for Windows users so we Mac users (the folks this board was intentended for) wouldn't have to wade through your posts.

I have no personal incentive to have ANY Windows area here, so I would advise against taking the existence of this area for granted. If you want continue to slam Macs and Mac users, I'll happily just either boot you or eliminate the Windows areas altogether. Problem solved. You're of course free to think us Mac users insufferable, arrogant and all those things I used to think back when I was sequencing on DOS.. However, don't abuse my hospitality by spewing this viewpoint here. Thanks.

I'm sold. I to will become an iZombie. I've ordered the mac pro and booked in for the iZombie chip to be inserted in my brain. I'm looking forward to many fun filled hours of trolling windows forums letting them know how their choice in computer and operating systems sucks. Their just Windows users they don't really belong here, with us iZombies. We are so much more superior because we use mac's and have gear lists.

I have a few questions about what to expect once I'm an iZombie.

1. Will I feel superior to PC user straight away or does it take time?
2. Will I have more or less creativity?
3. Will I achieve your level of arrogance straight away or will it increase with time?
4. Will I find myself lined up out the front of apple stores before they open?
5. Can we start a forum explaining to windows uses the benefits of switching to mac?
6. Is Bill Murray(Zombieland) right by saying the best way to blend in with iZombies is to look and be like them?
7. Do the rules in Zombieland apply to iZombies?
8. Will I still have a sense of humor?
9. Will I notice my English skills improve?
10. Will I need to have a long gear list to impress people?
11. Will I be impressed by people with large gear lists?
12. Will I get gear list envy?
13. What if your gear list is bigger than mine?
14. Does a large gear list make for a better iZombie?
15. Will I need a large gear list so people believe I know what I'm taking about?
16. Since I will soon be an iZombie can we now close the Windows forum?
17. Will this make me a better muso/songwriter/producer?
18. Will I find Steven Jobs attractive?
19. Will I find lizards attractive?
20. Do iZombies live under rocks?
21. Will I still be able to go to gearsluts?
22. Can I write swear words or do I have to use @#$% and *** symbols instead?
23. Will I have to end every one of my posts with " Anyway I have better thinks to do like write music" even if I don't?
24. Can iZombies tell when someone is joking?
25. Will this get me "booted"?

As you can see I have a few concerns but I'm hoping you guys can help me out?

Wow... that's a long list of mostly meaningless and irrelevant stuff. I merely gave you the facts around this boards origin and suggest that you sort of ease up on the hostility you seem to have toward Mac users. When I switched to the Mac for MIDI work, Windows 3.0 which was the first version that was halfway decent wasn't out yet. And back then there was clearly more and better software available for the Macintosh. Things change along the way, and I'm sure there are good apps for Windows, but having developed an affinity for the Mac platform as well as Digital Performer which is not available on the PC, I'm not interested in a Windows machine as my main DAW. I do use Windows for other things of course as there are apps that I like to use that are not available for Mac OSX.

As far as Macs costing more than PCs-- I don't give it much thought because the software that I want to run isn't available for the PCs. As far as one OS being inferior or superior... again, doesn't matter to me. Although from what I understand, the Mac's underpinnings are based on Unix which is supposed to be an excellent OS.

I personally don't care what computer you use as it's of no concern to me. I know what's best for ME however, and that's Mac OS. To each their own.

I live here in good ol' Washington State and Redmond is right around the corner from me... I know like 20 people who code for MS and they use Macs at home. Oh well... with that said...
It's just preference but the people who sit in lines and camp out in front of Apple stores aren't real mac users man... they are the "i" crowd. Most of the people here are working pros... but that doesn't really matter though.

Dude, you had me here. Bill Murray is one of my favorite movie guys. This is total righteousness. I don't know what you were saying in all that other stuff, but it has to be right; all of it. You're a superhero, Wayne. I mean WayneM, of course.

Can you make another list and mention, say, Jodie Foster, or Marilyn Monroe, or Ingrid Bergman and Bogie? I'd follow you to Commodore 64 Land then. Well, I mean at a respectable distance. I don't want anyone getting any wrong ideas or anything. After all, I AM a married man. I married a Macintosh. We had a baby SATA drive. It grew into a giant and learned to speak DP. I taught it to sing. We're all very happy. It's a beautiful world here.

You have a nice life. OH… and make me that list, ok? I want some of the great leading ladies on there.

I certainly hope so. I come here to exchange useful info and to have an occasional laugh with long distance friends. I never expected this sort of nonsense here.

Bill Murray is the best. Ghostbusters, Caddy Shack and There's something about Bob are three of my favorite comedy flicks.

My rants are all tongue in cheek. If we can't have a laugh at our own expense then we may as well become a politicians.

To anyone truly offended by any of my verbal diarrhea , I apologizes.

.

I can't believe I missed all this idiocy!
WayneM wrote:I like this line by FMiguelez

"Oh, and let me remind you: MOTUNation is a MOTU-Mac oriented forum. We have this section as a courtesy to Windows users."

Spoken like a true iZombie. Normal people would think MOTUNation was for uses of Motu products not just for know it all iZombies like yourself.
And that was the whole extent of your argument? That was the base for your personal attacks? As usual, you were wrong, as proven by the board owner

I need to keep repeating myself, because of your comprehension disability... <sigh>.
AGAIN: Nobody said it was for Mac users exclusively. I said it is a MOTU-Mac oriented forum with Windows sections as a courtesy, you moron.

How may Windows forums do you see if you click in the lower right menu? How many Mac related forums do you see? I hope you can at least count!
WayneM wrote:I like how you always make a point of saying you have better things to do like write music. I bet you couldn't write a song to save your life.

And you say that based on... what... exactly?!?!?
WayneM wrote:Don't worry FMiguelez I had already guessed you are a hack. Only a hack would make a point of such a thing.
Well, you were just proven wrong, so where does that leave you?
You must know me really well. How else could you say that?!?

Again, I pity you. You are a little kid hiding in your mommy's arms. A little troll hidden safely under the internet's anonymity.

So, what is your point? You just wrote a non-sense list of idiotic questions (very ad hoc for the author, though).
You obviously don't even have a point, that's why you have to resort to cheap and uninformed personal attacks.

So you like Windows, huh? Good for you!

Personally, I'll inclined to just let this go unless it continues. So everyone should just drop it. I don't need to convert anybody to Mac... I'll just continue to be happy that I made the switch years ago and just be quietly smug to myself. :)

Wow..... quite a thread....LOL. I just wandered in here....

I wouldn't state that my setup is flawless but it pretty damn stable, and IMHO DP is getting better all the time. I'm currently running DP 7.2 w Mac OS X 10.5.8.

Right. But actually this is a Windows forum and the Windows users are often having more challenges in getting things to work correctly. Please do not speculate as to why. That's how we ended up at this point! :D
