DP for me is still number one. My Rosetta 800, Big Ben, DAC-1 and the newly added 2bus LT has my friend wishing he never bought PT HD in the first place. He wants to try out Nuendo on my system to see if the "sound" of Nuendo can be improved further.
Cool. I'd be really interested in hearing how it goes if he does bring Nuendo over to your place kwiz. If we can say with some assurance that there really is a difference in sound quality between these DAWs, then we can start banging on MOTU for something better
Qo,
I'll let you know for sure.
We might hook up sometime next week.
I'm gonna try to convince him to bring his ADAM's S3A's as well.
Those things sound crazy!!!

You might hold off on this until version 3.1 comes out. It's due within the month.

I have done a record test with a Tele 251 mic/Telefunken preamp/direct into HD192 to DP 4.51 and then Nuendo 3.02 with the exact setup. The clock is UA 2192.
I did elevate the cuemix console input to about 9:00 to match Nuendos normal levels which appear slightly hotter.
It appears that cue mix does not function in Nuendo using PCI 424 card and HD192.
The files are the original ones from each application.
The AIF is Nuendo and they are both 88.2khz-24bit:

www.eirec.com/AudioDP.aif
This one will work I hope
You tell me WHY they sound different because I'm stumped.

Well the .aif file opens fine.
I get error messages when trying to open your SD2 file in any app.
(This file does not parse correctly is one example)
Dp doesn't even "see" the SD2 file.

Well I give for now..
Need some sleep methinks.
So the .aif file opens fine in any app I use.
I tried this new file in everything from AudioFinder
to DP to Logic express..nothing
The error message in Amadeus is
"this file does not contain an audio track."
This is pretty weird.

So in case you're curious..(or not

)
I tried each sd2 file in various ways in various pieces
of software.
I even tried it on my old G4/400.
Not once did it work.
I'd certainly like to trrack down the reason why as
obviously it worked for you (otherwise you wouldn't
have posted it.)

I think you correctly pointed out the problem SD.
Something happened to the DP file in the transfer to my site. I use fetch and automatic.
The only way I could get it to work as you pointed out, is to do it hqx.
Try that as a last attempt and see whet happens.
This works for me now and thanx.

I actually downloaded the hqx file and had to add the extension
'hqx" as it wasn't there originally.
I decompressed it and..it became a generic exec file.
Don't know what to to tell you.
I'm obviously VERY curious to hear the 2 files side by side.
I can tell you that.

In my experience, most internet servers won't preserve the header on an sd2 file, even with an extension. i would zip the file first (right click file and select "archive" on osx machines), making sure you retain the file extension before uploading it.
