Another thought - if we called it motuworld, we'd get a lot of new members who love motocross and can't spell (or type like me - see motoworld.com)
If we called it motunation, we'd get new members who want to buy motorcycle apparel (I believe they are called bikers

). See motoworld.com..

Maybe I would need a crash course in motonationpronounciation.

WHOA don't want to say that after a big night.

I like the *idea* of motuniverse. It does create a subtle brain stumble with the elided "U". motunation pretty much spells out the way it sounds and actually rolls off the tongue a bit more easily. It's also a little closer to unicornation and doesn't feel to be as big a change.
Questions:
1. So, if the unicorn logo is disappearing from MOTU products, will there likewise be no replacement website logo?
2. If this site is not sponsored by MOTU, would using "motu" in the site address contribute to the occasional existing misunderstanding by some newer or less frequent members that MOTU is more directly affiliated with this place than it really is?

Well... I think when I get around to doing this... MOTUNATION.COM is probably the way I'll go as it seems to be the favorite. I don't mind the company name in the name of the site as I've run it past some folks I know at MOTU and they're cool with it.
Fact of the matter is, for those of you who might not know the history, is that this site is indeed for MOTU users... and primarily Digital Performer users, but since we cover hardware issues and MOTU's virtual instruments, I think something like MOTUNATION is the way to go. I will also say I've been slammed as a MOTU "fanboy" but that doesn't bother me, because I am an fervent advocate of Digital Performer and I don't apologize for that. Also, I don't think too many people assume this site is company run and I do take pains to have a big disclaimer up on the site.
I don't know when I'll get around to this... probably not for a while as I'm pretty busy with other things these days and due to the economy I have to start focusing more of my efforts on the few money-making activities I engage in.

Well, I reluctantly played "pick your poison" (thank you for the free online game, Jimbo LOL) without knowing the results so far, so it was a pleasant surprise that at least it's a landslide.
Still, it's hard to get excited about this new-fangled poison I've picked.
Will we still be Unicorns, 'Cornies?
How can James be our shepherd if we're not something resembling four-legged trotters?
A confusing day, to be sure.
How 'bout MOTUCORNATION.COM?
It sounds like "motor co-ordination", so we'll sound like scientists to those not in the know.
Further, it retains... the Unicorn... barely. Yay!

I know. I don't wanna change; I'm a Unicorn forever!

Yep I agree. I'm one of the ones who voted for "MOTUniverse", but upon further reflection, while reading through this thread, I think that "MotuNation" is probably the better way to go.

James,
I am leaning toward MotuNation. I do think it flows better and would be a fine choice.
Thanks for asking!

Surely I can't be the only one old enough that associates MOTU with...
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!
One of the *worst* cartoons of all time. heh.
So, I don't think MOTUNIVERSE works unless you want a bunch of Skeletor and He-Man fans crashing the forum.
Or...you could name the forum the following:
MOTU-BUT-NOT-MASTERS-OF-THE-UNIVERSE-BECAUSE-THIS-IS-A-DAW.com
Just a thought.
BTW, I voted for motunation.
Frankly James, I don't care what you name it as long as the site continues to be the quality place it is. </buttkissing>
