Hey everybody,

I just received my copy of Mixing with your Mind, and I am thrilled. I actually expected that it was a bigger sized, soft cover book (like maybe 9"x12"), but it is actually a smaller, hard cover book (about the size of a novel), complete with an attached red ribbon bookmark. Very nice.

The book took less than 2 weeks to reach me, in Canada, from the time I placed the order (http://www.mixingwithyourmind.com). Stav kindly wrote me a quick note in response to an order comment that I made, and told me that the book would ship the next business day, and indeed it arrived 10 days after that shipment date, all the way from Australia.

The book seems well written and filled with stuff. It is going to take me some time to go through it and start experimenting with all the techniques, but I am quite excited about beginning. Just need DP6, and I'll really be able to start getting things done around here! :-)
Good ole Aussie knowhow and efficiency eh.

I hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

Don't they only ship the manual in PDF these days? I certainly haven't got a hard-copy version.

Sorry for the confusion.

I was just riffing on the old "I Got Me No DP Manual In PDF Blues."

I think this was a significant find. Not for us. But significant nonetheless.

BTW. Was the initial question answered? Was that elusive book/DVD found?

Jeanne sent me the penultimate printout for approval and editing.
You should have seen it. I reckon it would've been quicker to rewrite that book than to individually edit practically every ruddy sentence.
Geez. She has the mind of a demented chimp, that woman... and she doesn't smell any better either.
Come to think of it, she was kinda furry, but I figured she must've been a feminazi, as ferrel missions involving gorillas and such seem to suit them just fine.

Anyway, I just wanted to set the record straight - that woman actually has the mind of a monkey (a sub-standard one, of course), hence her apparent obsession with all things simian... and me, but that's another story - one for the boys after bedtime.

Amazon US doesn't have it. Only place I can find is via author's website. The author ought to sign up and create a little store on amazon for his book. More exposure and he'd appear in searches. Not too hard to do.

BTW. I just received an email from Univ Audio with a coupon for $25 off anything. Those considering that DVD would be hard pressed to spend it on something better.

Well okay, except the Neve plugs. Oh, and the Mastering Edition. Oh, and the...

Well, I got my copy of Mixing With Your Mind the other day. Read it in one sitting. I did find it quite helpful, interesting and well written. But I have to admit I do think it's overpriced. I'd feel a lot better about it if I paid $40 or $50. Maybe my expectations were too high?

I agree that it could have been a little lower in price. But I guess if we think of it as a book of recording secrets (which we plan to keep to ourselves), then we paid for, and are benefitting from, an education which many other recording enthusiasts may take years to figure out on their own.

I figure that the things that it is teaching me to do in the studio will save me hours of paying someone else to do (or to fix) later. Even if I send something out to be mixed by another engineer, I will save myself many hours of his paid time by using these techniques to properly prepare the project.

So maybe don't think of it like an ordinary book. Think of it as a bundle of secrets.

You're right Zed. That's totally how I need to look at it. At the same time, I do think the whole "secret" concept of his is pretty smart marketing. But hey, he seems like a good guy. He shared very helpful tips. Let the guy make a little $ right? :)

Remember too, that at the moment you guys are victims of the crappy value of your own US dollar. Here on the other side of the pacific, we are loving getting 90c to our dollar and being able to pay the sort of prices that you've taken for granted for the last 20 years.

Good point. Hadn't even thought of that.
