BIS,

The link you have is for documentation (it's a PDF file). Here's the format for downloading the drivers:

http://downloads.motu.com/firewire/MOTU ... .6.7.3.zip

That gets you version 3.6.7.3. You can also get older versions though similarly formatted URLs.

Also, I don't see the point in getting the drivers certified. Even if it's not just another cash-cow for M$ to supply the logo, what good would it do? If MOTU can't develop sincere drivers for their own hardware, Microsoft is certainly not going to help them along. So if they do get the drivers certified in their current state, it wouldn't improve the quality. If they don't get the certificate because the drivers don't live up to Microsoft's standards, MOTU is still in the same position to improve them. That's where they already are. So either way, nothing is gained.

No audio card maker has their drivers certified.
RME's aren't.
Lynx's aren't
M-audio aren't
ProTools isn't.

There isn't an audio card maker that has made a reliable FW interface yet.
Even the RME Fireface has problems.

The only drivers I have found to be reliable are drivers for PCI interfaces.
The 424 is the closest it comes.
Performance wise it is right there with the rme beta drivers, but works (with slightly greater latency) then the RME current drivers.
The Lynx drivers are the best and most reliable, but DM configuration isn't the best. Total Mix (RME) is the best yet.

The biggest problem with FW drivers and Windows is the chipset.
Us a PCI FW card with a TI chipset and make sure you are in SP2 with the FW fix and things should work better.

Problem with MOTU is they don't really spend the time developing drivers the way RME and Lynx do.

I actually want to download the PDF to see what changes were made. The idea was to see if the updates made to the driver would improve my setup in any way, if not then I follow the "if it ain't broken..." rule.

Do you know another location where I can obtain a list of changes made to the new driver update?

No. To the best of my knowledge MOTU does not have release notes with each new version of the driver. Sad.

Very much so. It seems that MOTU only update their drivers to incorporate a new product such as the ultralite or traveller. The reason they don't tell us about any updates to drivers for other devices seems to be because there aren't actually any updates. Please someone correct me if i'm wrong but this looks to be the case. Sad indeed.

I bought a "top end" MOTU product, but then was told than in order to make it work properly I should have to buy another product (Belkin FW adapter), which I got stuck with and realized it did not really help. I already had Firewire in my computer, now I have 6 PORTS! that I won't ever need to use all at the same time.

So I changed my antivirus software (more money and time configuring, dealing with new glitches, etc) which was working just fine before just to keep the MOTU from glitching, it worked for the most part, but the cost and incovenience defenitely make me wonder what MOTU is doing to please hard working customers that do not have time to become computer geeks and who want to get down to their business.

All I am asking is for better support! Communicate with your customers!

I'll second that! Had these blue screen of death the first time with a Motu product saying that I had drivers problems!

It worried me that after purchasing I saw that support for Windows users was a let go for Motu. I really wish now that they get another driver out that resolve basic firewire communication problems. Personnally I don't need all the Gui's updates and new features, just a bug free product.
