Thanks dosuna11 but i guess i should have said i primarily use the 896HD now (my wife stole my 828mk1 to do minidisc transfers of med school lectures). but on that MK2, is that on the Front..."hardware" end? that may help in the future. thanz again!

Seems well behaved with my old beater dual G4 with a GigaDesign cpu upgrade, DP5.1., etc.
I don't use firewire drives, but agree with WSVP's advice.
Good housekeeping pays off.

Yes it is. The set up is on the front panel of the hardware. It also solved some other minor CPU issues as well.
