and whilst they at it

MAC NOW HAS RIGHT CLICK CAPABILITIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry had to shout that one out - but it's so frustrating that they are ignoring a really simple way to make the sequence editor a lot better...

imagine a world where right clicking on a track gave u a pull down menu - the chance to switch automation edit modes

( please insert your own fantasy here....)

I'd vote for stability and fixes for v. 5.02 with the new features for 5.1.

But it's all wishful thinking, isn't it?

just to second a few things others have said:

-folder tracks affect the mixer as well

-adjustable ffwd/rew speed

-right click gives a drop down menu (tho i'd prefer tools).

Good calls there.

Are you aware, though, that by clicking on the actual folder name in the track selection column in the mixer window you show (or hide) all of the tracks in that folder with one click. It's a reasonably quick workaround in the meantime, but it would be good if 'closed' folders were automatically hidden in the mixer. I'm assuming that's what you're asking for.

actually, i wasn't. thanks for that. i suppose it would still be nice if the mixer mirrored the sequence editor, but this does fine.

Improve multitrack drum quantizing to be more competitive with Pro Tools.

Support Serato Pitch 'n Time as Logic and Pro Tools do.

Hardware insert points on all Channels, Auxes and Masters implemented like Nuendo with ADC. Option to freeze tracks to the same track on a separate layer, brought to top.

Larger more accurate faders, or better integration with control surfaces, or both.

Full Broadcast Wave file support.

Automation ••“ Update to end.

Bite volume layer great idea but hard to get it right. Why can't it work just like Volume automation.

•••able to adjust the bite volume with a fader!

One more vote here to just get the ALL the existing features to work correctly.

DP has enough features already.

New Features for DP5.1

I agree on the stability issues. While I would love to see some of the new features we have all listed, we really need MOTU to clean up the stability of the current feature set.

I always considered DP to be one of the more stable apps in OS9, while I still think DP is still a great product, I think it is one of the least stable apps in OSX.

I am hoping that the XCode/Universal Binary shakup will stimulate a fresh approach at motu in dealing with OSX programming.

Soundbite volume in Nuendo is implemented particularly well... there's a handle at the center of the top of the soundbite (like the fade handles at the ends)... grab the handle and it displays the soundbite volume, drag up or down to change gain... of course independent of automation.

This makes assembling album sequences REALLY easy.

I agree on stability for DP5.02, and new features for 5.1.

My new feature request would be dumping cue mix on the mac and building those functions (DEFEATABLE functions, preferably) into DP. Tech support informed me the other day that the "stand alone" cue mix software (which is the interface driver according to them) is actually pre-DP... and therefore can obviously mute and level adjust audio before DP ever sees it. The gain trims are not calibrated in any fashion...so if I want to increase level post a/d and pre-DP by 3dB I have to run tones. Ugh... I'd rather have nothing between the converter and DP... that way I know what's coming in has seen absolutely no DSP before it gets to its destination track. BTW, if you happen to adjust (or mute) an input in cuemix, it stays that way regardless of the project (or whether cuemix has been turned on, ever after a reboot).
