DP 4.6 IS OUT

Ran some tests to try and get a handle on whats happening.
OK, I'll start off by mentioning that I'm running 10.3.9 on a Dual boot G4 Dual 1.25Ghz w/2gigs of ram. (I did repair permissions before install and after)
1) Loaded a previous session into 4.6 w/ alot of VI's being used.(Kontakt,GPO,Korg Wavestation, and Sampletank) They all loaded fine. I then added another instance of Kontakt, again no problem. The piece played fine.
2) Created a new "Empy" project entitled DP 4.6 test. Created an instrument track (Kontakt) and nothing happened. It did show up in the instrument track as Kontakt-1 No instrument though.
3) I went back to 4.52, loaded the same session, no problem. All VI's loaded and played fine.
4) Same as step 2, but created it in 4.52.(DP 4.52 test) All VI's created from scratch loaded just fine.
5) Loaded DP 4.6 again, but this time I used one of my own templates with some of those VI's in use. All loaded fine. I was also able to create new VI's with no problems. They all showed up.
As far as I can see, creating a new project from an empy template is where the problem resides, which might suggest a pref problem.
Sorry for being so long winded, but I'd like to nip this one in the bud, and I hope this might spur on some other thoughts.

on the vi issue, make sure that the instrument track is assigned to a valid output. maybe something got screwy with your outputs during the upgrade - if the output is italicized then the vi would instantiate but not show its panel (just as you describe)
Thats it!!! Never happened to me in 4.52, so I overlooked that possibility.

MOTU rocks! Phenomenal update and its not even DP 5 yet. Great new features really take it to a new level among DAW's. It's like getting two significant updates for the price of one (4.5 and 4.6) The pitch correction feature alone is worth an upgrade price considering what Melodyne and Autotune cost! Nice.

Ditto! This is a nice update with something for everyone it seems. Sends Panning is now supported with Mackie Control Universal (and other control surfaces).

One thing that's not mentioned in the Release Notes is how to select the Pan for anything but the first (top) Send on a channel. But, after a bit of trial and error, I stumbled on the method (perhaps it's a standard interface convention of the Mackie and I'm just clueless as always...). Once you're in SndPan mode (following directions in the Release Note) just use the up/down cursors on the Mackie (the one's that surround the Zoom button) to move up/down to different Sends.

i've been working with the pitch automation......it's awsome, but, is there any way to have a note sound as you're draging it around? it doesn't have to be the vocal track, just some tone to let you know what pitch you're adjusting to.

I can't speak to whether it's better, but there is still no way to defeat it.

Not bad, not bad. One thing I notice is that there are more random CPU spikes than in 4.5. They seem to happen very rarely, but they do happen.

Haven't tried any VI's or Reason with it yet, just laid down some drum tracks.

Also noticed that every now and then I get a stutter, even though the CPU isn't spiking (according to the meter). again, it's not often, but there just the same.

I did all the usual stuff - repairing perms, etc... The update happened without a hitch, so that's nice. I'm off to try some VI's and maybe Reason.

OS X 10.4.1, Dual G4 450 w/plenty of ram.

DFHS 2 keeps crashing DP4.6.

Anyone else have the same issue?

i needed to increase my buffer size to 1024 on a project after switching to dp 4.6 and using 10 instances of ewqlgold.....maybe that'll help....maybe that new v rack can help......hmmmm

By the way, I'm running 10.4.1.

It seems to crash only when i create a new project and then create a new VI track. When I go to the construct screen DP crashes.

Everything seems to work fine in a pre-existing project though.
