Firwire drive data issues, Unresolved aliases (broken links), Java errors, Breaks Audiomedia cards, check Apple Discussions OSX for more.
Gary
could you provide a link to Apple Discussions for the AudioMedia Card Problem ref 10.3.9, please ? I searched with audiomedia and amIII, but nothing returned...
I have a 2nd 2 x 1.2 mdd with an AMIII that works fine with 10.3.4/7 and don't want to run into more trouble

TIA and best regards

Klaus

There was no specific link but I found several users say it broke.

One claimed the fix would not come until Tiger. I think it was on the Apple/discussions/ software/Logic..

Hope that helps.

I did the following

I've been mixing all night and find 10.3.9 works great. Have SCSI online with external fast drives as well, no problems.

I guess, like everything else, growing pains accompany new software implementation.

After loading the java fix it seems all is fine in 10.3.9 so I think everyone should take the plunge and do it if operating on any G5 dual machine.

Also keep in mind the NAB announcement about all the packaged video stuff including 'Soundtrack' going 'Pro'.

This can't hurt us here in MOTU land.

I have ordered 10.4 and will certainly report compatibility issues ASAP and I hope many of you do. I plan to run it on a separate drive first to test it with DP and advise you do the same if you can.

Added: I hear replacing the prefs file for third party like reason may also cure a few things if it comes up.

Thanks,

New security update on the heels of 10.3.9. What a surprise eh?

It may fix some stuff, it may not.

I added it and found no differences but I had no problems so it's hard to tell what it did.

Just wanted to add to the thread. I installed the 10.3.9 combined update yesterday and worked all night and today with no new problems. I have 6 LaCie hard drives that seem to be content with the update and I didn't install the new driver for the LaCies.

I have no problem at all. I turned off other SCSI and firewire drive before installed.
After that I started back on without a glitch.

Timeline: Interestingly enough, the new security update would not install to my system (10.3.9) guess for whatever reason, I don't need it. I don't have any problems so all is well.

I know.

It has somthing to do with the CPU type. I have another machine which also won't but it's working just fine.

Think that's about it. Next> Tiger.
