Re: DP 6.02 is up
Time to jump in here... Couple of things to start with.
On my G4 dual 1.25 GHz under OS X 10.4.9, DP 6.02 uses more CPU than DP 6.01. A recent project shows a max of 50%+ CPU usage in 6.02, while the exact same project shows more like 40%+ in 6.01. It's not enough of a difference to scare me off, I just noticed the difference. I'm not sure that the few *enhancements* in 6.02 will sway me from 6.01, assuming I need that least bit of CPU.
I also noticed a bug/oversight in the new DP 6.02 this evening. In 6.01 (and older versions) you can select a soundbite in the sequence editor and apply an audio effect to said sounbite. If the soundbite was a mono file, then you would see listings in the Audio/Audio Effects menu like "Trim Mono", "Dynamics Mono" etc... If the bite was stereo, then the menu items would reflect this by changing to "Trim Stereo", Dynamics Stereo", etc...
Under DP 6.02, when selecting a stereo soundbite in the Sequence Editor, I was presented with mainly *Mono* options in the Audio/Audio Effects menu. I forged ahead and tried to apply a *mono* trim plug to a *stereo* track, and actually got a Stereo Trim plug... huh? I mean, it's what I wanted really, but it put me off a bit, the first few times I tried it..."But it's a stereo soundbite... why is it saying Trim Mono?!?!?!?!"
Small issue I know, but it could confuse a newb, right? Heck, it confused me until I was brave enough to try it!
Anyhoo... everything else I did in DP 6.02 worked just fine, with one exception - DP hung upon exiting and would only go bye-bye if I Force Quit the app. This has only happened once so far, but I've really only used the app about 4 times in the last 2 days so...

I confirm this phenomenon, it happens also with me on a MacPro with Leopard, but nothing serious _bigdaddy wrote: Under DP 6.02, when selecting a stereo soundbite in the Sequence Editor, I was presented with mainly *Mono* options in the Audio/Audio Effects menu. Re: DP 6.02 is up
My guess is that this bug/oversight crept in when MOTU changed the listing of plug-ins in 6.02, so that they are alphabetized/sorted with the developer company name before the plug-in in the pop-down menu. E.g. the MOTU ones are listed as "MOTU: Xxxx (Xxx to Xxx)" . . . Not that this is an excuse, but it might be a hint at where things forked awry.bigdaddy wrote:

Re: DP 6.02 is up
Sounds like a logical assumption. I'll inform MOTU of the problem. Since we're on the subject, I'm not a big fan of the new naming convention used for plugs. I think it makes the plug harder to "find" when you're looking at a sea of "MOTU: Xxxx (Xxx to Xxx)" - And, the Para EQ plugs are at the bottom of the list and are not preceeded by "MOTU"?!?!
Is it possible to have ALL of the MOTU plugs "hide" in their own little sub-menu? It would clean up the look of the list a bit.
Lastly, the GUI does seem a bit better, or maybe it's just wishful thinking. I'll have to do a couple of screenshots and compare side by side.

Re: DP 6.02 is up
If im understanding you correctly, then yes it is possible to do this.bigdaddy wrote: Is it possible to have ALL of the MOTU plugs "hide" in their own little sub-menu? It would clean up the look of the list a bit.
Go to your Plugin folder and open the MAS plugins folder. You should see all your MOTU plugins and MASTERWORKS plugins, as well as any other MAS plugins.
Now create a new folder called, lets say "MOTU", inside the MAS folder and put all the MOTU plugins in the new folder. When you open DP (you will have to relaunch if it's already open) you should find all your MOTU plugins in the same "MOTU" sub-menu.
I personally have one folder for MASTERWORKS plugins and Proverb and another folder for all the other MOTU effects/VI's.
If only we could configure all the AU plugins in a similar manner...

Great tip Tim! Thank you.timriley wrote:Now create a new folder called, lets say "MOTU", inside the MAS folder and put all the MOTU plugins in the new folder. When you open DP (you will have to relaunch if it's already open) you should find all your MOTU plugins in the same "MOTU" sub-menu.

[EDIT] I am back working in DP 5.11 today, but I just tried this tip and it works fine in DP5 also. I was concerned that perhaps projects which used those moved plugins would not be able to find them, but apparently DP is smart enough to look in subfolders for missing plugins... so nothing was broken! Very nice.

Re: DP 6.02 is up
Same issue here, noticed it with the Reverse process. Ended up with a stereo soundbite, just like I should have.corbo-billy wrote:I confirm this phenomenon, it happens also with me on a MacPro with Leopard, but nothing serious _bigdaddy wrote: Under DP 6.02, when selecting a stereo soundbite in the Sequence Editor, I was presented with mainly *Mono* options in the Audio/Audio Effects menu. Gotta say, on my Mac Pro under 10.5.6, since the day 6.02 came out I have had exactly ONE crash that wasn't attributable to something like a corrupted soundbite or a probable disk access issue.

Yes! The avatar is back. I feel younger again. LOL Nice one, BD.
FWIW BigDaddy, I've always placed my MAS plugs in the following sub-folders; they're quick to find, neat and all appear adjacently in the list. I sure hope this tried-and-tested scheme still works in 6.02; I've not installed it yet:
MAS Delay/Mod
MAS Dynamics
MAS EQ/Filter
MAS Instruments
MAS Reverb
MAS Utilities
Thank you for hangin' around man.
