UVI Sparkverb and Drum Designer - $29/ea

UVI Sparkverb and Drum Designer - $29/ea

https://www.audiodeluxe.com/category/br ... term%3A575

AudioDeluxe has these on sale. I have Sparkverb already. Tempted by Drum Designer, but seems like it's geared more toward electronic music, which isn't really my genre and I already have Battery.

IRCAM TS2 $30

Post by stubbsonic »

It's practically a ritual that I come on MN and talk about this lil sleeper of a program every time it goes on sale. I'm pretty sure $30 (reg. $249) is the lowest price we've seen. Yea, it's a little long in the tooth, but still a very useful program for changing the pitch and/or time-stretch of a full mix.

Your patience and self-restraint has punished you with several years of doing without, but finally the payoff: 88% off.

I've noticed TS2 out there before, but it's not clear what exactly I would use it for. Is it for time stretching only, or could it be used as an external audio editing app, like DSP-Quattro (which I've never gotten along with) etc? Videos on YouTube are either very short with just descriptions and no examples, or very long but all in French.

Is the time stretching and pitch shifting in TS2 really all-that? How does it compare to Zynaptic?

Of course, it's not for me to comment on whether or not you need it. It is a shame there isn't better demo video available.

I mainly use it to pitch correct old pop-song mixes that are not in A=440, so students can play along and it's in tune.

Perhaps you can look at a manual to learn about the features.

I can't speak on how it compares to Zynaptic (is that what DP uses?)

Right. Zynaptic is what DP uses and does an excellent job in most cases of adjusting/changing the pitch of songs etc I’ve found.

I can't really speak to the comparison of the quality of the pitch shift between Zynaptic and TS2. TS2 has a nice workflow because I can use various sliders to adjust different aspects of the process including adjusting formants & pitch independently, and there are other controls for mix of "Sinus", Noise, and Transient. I don't know what "SUPERVP" is, but it has things like window size, window duration, fundamental, window type, window overlap, fft size, freq band, preservation, stereo image preservation, and a command field. No idea.

It does have automation of most of the settings.

The IRCAM stretch algorithm has been around for a long while, and is also in UVI Falcon.. but it made its debut many years ago, in Mach Five 3. TS2 is the only way to get it in a stand-alone version.

Check out this video from 11 years ago:

I don't use TS2 every day, but I'm glad it's there when I do need it. For $30, I can't see any reason for an audio professional not to have this in their toolbox.

Native Instruments have a 20% off upgrades for Komplete offer.

[edit] Komplete 15 upgrade is literally $20 cheaper at thomman USA, haven't checked the others.

I got the email earlier today as well, and this may give me a chance to apply my $99 voucher from doing the Kontakt 8 update (for $82 from Best Service, I think maybe after applying my accumulated BestCoin credits, which were under 3 coins anyway) during Black Friday but not with any additional holiday sale at the time.

I believe this new sale, which covers updates (Black Friday didn't), is based on the pre-discount prices, meaning that one could apply the voucher, then the additional 10% discount on the remaining amount, as long as the chosen products (which must be NI and not iZotope or Plug-in Alliance or a third-party Kontakt library vendor) show at $200 or above in the cart prior to applying the voucher.

Any NI coupon will likely not work, I'm torn on upgrading Komplete to 15 for $140 or just getting the Kontakt upgrade which is also cheaper at Thomman for $85. There's not a lot of the new instruments in 15 that appeal to me, more electric piano emulations etc. I've got Amplitube and Tonex from IK for guitar stuff, I don't know if I've ever used Guitar Rig 6 on a single song? so 7 isn't that appealing. I got Musio for cheap recently, haven't even downloaded the electric pianos in it yet...

I think I might just skip it and update Kontakt, I really use Reaktor and Kontakt out of Komplete these days. take the $55 difference in price towards the Speakerphone 3 upgrade.
