Whoops, spoke too soon...I rarely use Garritan's JABB but actually needed it last night. I could not get it to work. Garritan's GPO4 is OK with the new ARIA player, but JABB is still using the old Kontakt 2 Player. I haven't found a fix yet. I will probably just wait for Garritan's JABB-ARIA release which they say is soon.rthorderson wrote:First, early, DP7 impressions...
- I checked the few plugins I own (see my sig) and everything seemed to work fine. I was especially concerned with GrooveAgent3...still takes a while to load, but works fine so far.

I don't know if this affects your product or not, but I had a problem with my install of Aria Player and this fixed it:rthorderson wrote:Garritan's GPO4 is OK with the new ARIA player, but JABB is still using the old Kontakt 2 Player.

It might at least give you a clue as to what the bug is.

Re: DP7 first impressions
More impressions:
I just did a brief audio-editing session, fixing some timing issues in a performance and editing in some overdubs.
I'm accustomed to hearing the hard disk chirp after I do each crossfade - now that I think if it, it was probably DP writing the fade file(s) to disk. So it's strange - in a good way - to not hear that anymore. So far I haven't had any troubles with fades playing back. Very nice.
Just as I was about to take a break to post this, I decided to play back something. I hit the spacebar, got the beachball, heard the disk churning, and thought for sure DP was gonna crash, as it has in so many similar situations. But it didn't. Cool!
I'm still cautious, waiting for the caca to hit the fan, but DP 7 still seems stable even on my aging G5. Better handling of crossfades isn't a sexy feature, but it's an important one.

hey bob -
i have essentially the same machine as you...
1) do you notice any sluggishness in the GUI in 7? like when side-scrolling through a large mix in the mix window?
2) do you have UAD or URS plugs in your setup?
thanks!

Re: DP7 first impressions
Just tried a large project - about 57 mono audio tracks (44.1/24). Mixer window doesn't scroll smoothly when I drag the scroll bar, but jumps - even when playback is stopped. That's not a deal-breaker for me personally, but of course YMMV.jerkrecords wrote:hey bob -

EDIT: I checked the same project in DP 5, and the mixer scrolled smoothly. Yes, it's a pain the way it jumps in DP 7, but still, not a deal-breaker for me.
Nope.jerkrecords wrote:2) do you have UAD or URS plugs in your setup?

You can simply load it into Kontakt 3.5. Works like a charm.rthorderson wrote: Whoops, spoke too soon...I rarely use Garritan's JABB but actually needed it last night. I could not get it to work. Re: DP7 first impressions
I've been able to use G-JaBB in Kontakt3.5 Player (a free download), as Kubi just mentioned. Not a problem.

There was a new Kontakt 3.5 player available as a free update. All is working fine now (although, I would prefer the ARIA player when it comes out).

Re: DP7 first impressions
Am I the only Tiger/DP7 user for whom the excellent Stillwell Audio Plug-ins (even the 9/28/.09 betas) do not display their controls since DP7 installation? When I instantiate Event Horizon or 1973, just the header of the window is visible no matter what I do, even on a newly created sequence.I only noticed this last night. On both my Intel laptop and DualCore G5 PPC Tower. Thanks for any feedback.

Re: DP7 first impressions
Wow.
I jumped from 5.13 to 7 and there is big improvements everywhere.
Now I have the feeling of having a true pro DAW. Everything seem to sound better, even the plug-ins and VI from Motu.
There is no hiccup when changing the repeat handle while DP is playing which mean they really work on stability. Same when going in the harware settings,it's coming back much faster.
Even my UAD plugs now are not introducing too much latency compare to 5.13.
So far , so good.
I still have to check some automations that was creating crashes and nightmares in 5.13.
