zed:
why don't you just export the MIDI files as Standard MIDI Files from SVP?
not that that's a bad idea, but if you are only concerned about MIDI, there is a solution.

Or at least make it an option.
BTW, when running DP under DAE, the metering in both the mixer and SE actually DO work that way.

Splinter,
The problem is that I have so many SVP song files over the course of so many years, that to export the MIDI of all those files would take a whole heap of hours. I suppose I will have to do that eventually, before my G4 (which can still boot in OS9) is still functioning.
If, however, I could open those files in DP when running OSX, I would not have to boot in OS9 anymore, and would not feel so pressured to deal with the whole mess at once.
Then life would be grand.

hiding tracks

Simply go to the expand button just to the right of the little camera in the menu bar, and click any tracks off or on. Still in there and still working.

Also when I double click an audio track I just want to see that enlarged track not that track plus all the other tracks. Perhaps that could be done by hold down shift key and double click that audio track to just enlarge that track.
What's the problem MR MOTU why can't you programme that into DigitalPerformer?
The track view in Digital Perfomrer is so puny now that I can barely see anything. Then if I change my monitor size/resolution then it becomes so huge the apple menu bar can't hold every item.
If Cubase since away back would allow me to iexpand the track height what's wrong with your MR MOTU?
Sorry guys just a pet beef from betty boop.
For bettyboopgirl, move your curser just above the color name of the next track down (the very bottom of the track) until the little hand appears. Option-click and drag down. Voila- taller tracks. Jeff Isaacs
Automatable click

vaultcomplex wrote:AUTOMATABLE CLICK!!
In DP 4.6, you can route the click to any audio or bus output. You can:
- route the click to a bus
- create an aux track with that same bus as the input
- add mute, volume, panning, etc. automation to this aux track as desired.

I think you're referring to the sequence view wheras Bettyboopgirl is referring to the actually main tracks window. I agree to....the tracks heights in the main track window are inexcusable and just plain clunky. It's the heart of the damn workflow and yet sooooo clunky in this regard....[/quote]

Hello
I agree with the ones who want a vertical zoom in the Tracks Window : this is my second wish.
My very first wish :
an improved Quickscribe
I recently read that it will be••¦
Long time ago, I talked with Michael Welsh and made a short list of basic and fundamental features that must be included very fast : enharmonics, clefs••¦
And I was heard

automatic window switch

After going to a Marker selected in the Markers window, DP could automatically return to the previous window, such as Sequence Editor, when a keyboard command is entered that obviously does not apply to the Markers window, such as select zoom setting.

yeah they should be able to be made taller. but the tracks window has never been the heart of the workflow for me.
I've treated it as an overview window, nothing more.
4.7 Wishlist

I originally posted some of this in 4.6.1 wishlist but probably more apprpriate here or in a 5.0 wishlist.
1. Would like to see a chromatic instrument tuner plugin.
2. Switchable "track level" input monitoring of record enabled tracks. This was very common in almost all tape based multitrack recorders. Allows for sound-check or rehearsal with already recorded tracks without recording the rehearsal or using an aux track.
3. Improved waveform editor, we could use a cursor in the wave editor and vertical zoom of the waveform. Also would be nice to put markers into individual soundbites which would be visible in the sequence editor, this capability already exhists in the SDII format. They currently only allow one sync-point.
4. More compact transport window, currently it occupies a lot of screen real estate. One thin horizonal row should be able to interface all the needed functions.
Overall MOTU seems to be very good at reading my mind, seems like every time I am thinking about an improvement in DP it shows up in the next update, in addition they are often free. This has been the case since 1987 when I started with Performer 2.3.

1.When you drag a soundbite from the soundbites window onto a track
have the soundbite (in the soundbites window) italicize the text to help
keep track of where you are.
2. Being able to increase the size of the fonts used in DP as I practically
need a magnifying glass to read some of it. (I have 20/20 eyesight)
3.Being able to perform a search in the soundbites window.
4.If I drag multiple soundbites from the window onto a blank tracks window
DP will create the appropriate tracks and place the audio at the start of
(or where ever I want them) the timeline.
Also have DP's import audio command able to accomplish the same thing.
5.have the option of "object editing" MIDI in the sequencer window as well
as the tracks window.
6.Faster then real time freeze function.
7.Folder tracks
8.Continue to optimize DP
9.Release an update that squashes (though I haven't run into it yet)
the pitch automation bug.
10. Bouncing mutiple tracks "individually" and no, not DP's Multi bounce.
Apologies if much of this has been posted.
I'm far to lazy to read all the posts.

I would like to see support for wav and aiff files. So If I have to import files from Pro Tools (or whatever), I can skip one round of conversions. And vice versa.

Actually DP does support mono aiff files.

That reminds me...
Ability to import 32bit wav files into DP
(sorry if I already posted that request before

)
