When I first began posting here at UNI and getting a pleasant response I thought that maybe some of the more disenchanted DP folks at Big Blue Lounge/OSX Audio had it all wrong.

No, I thought. The Unicornation guys aren't snobs and elitists, or rude and unfriendly. Shooshie, Monkey Man, Twisted Tom and Kassonica, and so many more - all decent folks without an axe to grind on the hearts of others.

I still don't believe that. But I'm beginning to feel quite unwelcome here by some. I'll be the first one to admit it - I don't fit in with that country club mentality that some of the folk here seem to have. And yeah, maybe I don't dress the part either.

But there is much wisdom here and I suppose it's like going to the store for something that you need: on the way you may go down some different streets and be accosted by thugs, beggars, loonatics and those who think they own the land that they're walking on, the neighbourhood, or the service they are providing to humanity.

No one "owns" this forum without the consent of those participating. I don't go to BB Lounge anymore since I came here. And I think it may come that another forum may spring up where people like me, and and few others here, are not seen through competitive, disdainful eyes of those who feel that life is cheating them of true happiness and must therefore try to cheat me of it too. Impossible. But the air is still bad as of late and I like it fresh and clear.

I enjoy posting here. I hope that this is not my last one.

[sorry, that's for the "anyone" thread].

Hmmm... honestly, I'm trying to ponder just where and when you came to feel unwelcome. But then again, I don't make money on this board and when you come here you aren't assaulted by lots of advertisements, etc. Boards like this tend to be like neighborhood pubs and there are regulars and they have their personalities. Some you can't take too seriously and insulting them never makes it better.

Me, in keeping with my theme of apathy for today, don't really give a rat's rear end what anybody at BBL thinks. There are some nice guys over there and then there are some that are not so nice that liked to talk smack about this board, because there we a couple of people I booted off of here years ago.

Can't please everyone... :(

But Frank, you definitely gotta polish up on your lying chops [emphasis added]. It's shameful considering how many dishonest mentors we have to learn from in our daily lives.

"You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie!"

nuff said.
Or his second:
bOing wrote:This already came up somewhere else. But the basic idea is this:

Use your fx as inserts on an AUX track, then route that to a voice track set to record. Whatever's recorded on that track include the processing as well. Presto!

(oh, sorry, I meant to say "Go to page 2077 in your manua [emphasis added]l").
Or his third:

P.S. Is it just me, or is it chilly in here at times? [emphasis added]

Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. Sometimes we all slip up and go over the edge a bit on this forum. I doubt it's intentional. Wasn't in my case.

Forget it and get back to music. Dragging things on is a waste of space and time.

MIDI, were you nearby when that cross was burning? I was a lurker for a while and probably saw someone being bullied. Should I have kept my mouth shut or even joined in?

But really, I'm flattered that someone as important and esteemed as you has shown such interest in me. I'm sure though that your intentions are merely musical and not romantic.

Haha,

And I'd like to say that I COMPLETELY agree with the "it's on page 29485 of the manual" This is the only board I frequent where that becomes the frequent answer!

It's clear that in todays age of technological advancement that having to parse through a GIANT manual without the ability to easily search it is both a waste of time and archaic. If people take the time to actually respond to a question that someone isn't finding easily, it then becomes searchable in the index here and might be enlightening to others.

I, personally, am tired of the waste of resources and shipping and my money that goes into printing a book that changes little between releases and hardly EVER gets opened by me. It should be built into the help, just like most other professional applications, so we can search it easily.

I do hope that DP6 has a PDF manual this time around. DP is so intuitive that "pirates" don't need a manual for most features, and with LOGIC going serial, I think a precedent is being set for future launches of software. Is it trust? Desperation? Frustration? Inevitablity?

One thing's for sure, I absolutely abhore having to get new authorizations every time I switch HDs - and CCC won't work for everything. It's time for something a little more people friendly.

I waited 2 days for my auth. for something from AMG.

Nothing worse than on-line help, as browsers are extreme resource hogs, and this makes hungry programs like Photoshop and Digital Performer almost impossible to run except on the highest-end computers.

Many of us also are better at using our ten fingers as placeholders for quick cross-referencing, as the best way to learn something and catch the context. The software manufacturers are still stuck with this idea that one-page-at-a-time is a good one-shoe-fits-all approach. People with a mathematical mind tend to learn better through patterns than linear progression.

So I do hope DP 6 ships with a printed manual -- and this in spite of all of the measures that I otherwise take to minimise my footprint on the environment.

Having said that, a PDF (local, not on-line) for quick text searching would be a welcome addition to the printed manual.

MIDI baby: Not a lot of rednecks here in Toronto. Just Mike Myers and Jim Carrey, Dan Ackroyd, John Candy RIP, Kathryn O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, and Howard Shore I guess too at times - although I don't know if he's funny or not. You should come up and visit me sometime. We could spit caviar at the poor people here on Yorkville.

bOing -

I owe you an apology, and I just feel terrible about this. I should never have entered into a battle of wits with an unarmed being.

Good luck.

You must have phoned a friend for that one cause I saw you deleted your last post about that "bubba" insult - a crappy post. Such cracks do paint you as a bit of a dandy Bourgeoisie though, don't you think?

NOTE TO OTHERS: Sorry folks, some of these bigger Catfish are hard to land. But he's coming close to the boat. Someone get me that gaff hook.
