All our customizable wishes really get me thinking about InDesign, which I'm currently working with now. InDesign is a gargantuan object-oriented beast, almost to a laughable degree, totally different animal from anything I've seen in a DAW. But what if some of that cascading style philosophy rubbed off on the DAW world?

Track is of this genre and tempo, on this album, from this band, each of which have their own cascading sets of preferences and presets, so that by the time you're actually working (InDesign jobs are famous for being about 3/4 setup time), you're practically done!

Maybe a bit extreme, but I always find myself mezmorized when working under cascading style development software, and thinking about what small ways those operations could be carried over to other software environments.

- Paste at original position (like Logic)

I get a little worried when I see a 13 page thread. This will probably get lost and never seen, but here's my two cents:

1 - how can that weird board layout bug that got introduced in DP 6 still be around??? When ever you add a new track to your sequence, it adds it to all of your saved mixing board layouts. What the heck is the point of saving a board layout if DP doesn't recall the correct layout? grrr

2 - please add a key command for Duplicate Take. I mean, there's one for every other take command. :banghead:

(sorry.... i had a lot of espresso this morning)

I agree. Long threads are something that my cat used to like to play with but always got trashed in the end, literally and figuratively.

Maybe individual requests per topic are a better idea as we could both gauge interest by responses and kick ideas around in a more focused way that would actually help programmers to understand what more people were interested in seeing in a feature?

You heard it here first! I'm actually suggesting more focused threads. LOL.

You (and your cat) have inspired me to make a new post MLC.

1.- You can do this if you keep (or recall) the selection before pasting
2.- you can do that with QuicKeys
3.- You can do this already (see Preferenes)

Maybe jamwerks is referring to placing a sound bite at the original recorded position? This is covered on page 354 under Original or Use Time Stamp.

it would be nice to be able to set a default crossfade type.

and, when i click on a soundbite in the tracks window, every other window ( mixer, seq editor, etc. ) should scroll to that track if i want it to. and in the mixer window there should be a way to highlight that track so you know exactly which channel it is, at a quick glance.
