I've done a lot of recording this afternoon...most of it around the 3 minute mark so if somethings going to break, it should do it within that time frame...Just to see what the Eucon would do more than anything else. No Audio Performance window open.

I'm playing back 16 audio tracks (combinations of stereo and mono), two MIDI tracks, 1 VI track. Two plugins (all my gear is external so I don't use much in the way of plugins anyway), plus I am mixer concentric (Soundcraft LX7ii-24).

At the same I was playing this cacophony back, I was recording seven tracks of audio (3 stereo and 1 mono).

Using an external drive on the same FW bus as one of the audio interfaces.

Darned if I could get it to peak, snap, crackle or pop. But I did notice that when I opened a project, I could push DP in the Activity Monitor to 120%. That usually lit up the peak indicator in DP's audio performance window. I didn't run the Activity Monitor at all when I was recording.

So you guys using networks, no network, or a single network (router or switch?), dual networks like I am (ethernet and airport), external drives or internal. Maybe if we pool some of this more specific stuff we might all benefit from it.

Boy I hate debugging someone elses software, it's bad enough when I have to debug my own...

This sounds almost identical to my experiences. When I open a project with Eucon running I see a huge peak for DP and then it settles down.

I'm on a single network.
Connected to the internet by ethernet.
Airport is off.
Mac Pro and Eucon are DHCP, however I have static reservations set on the router so that they always receive the same IP.

I have 4 internal drives:
1TB, 7200rpm Boot drive
300GB 10k rpm velociraptor for DP projects
300GB 10k velociraptor for Samples
1TB 7200rpm also for Samples.

This is great! I hope some of the others who have had problems will join in. Maybe we can find a common denominator, or at least a what works, what don't with Eucon.

Eucon 2.1 installed, updated MCMix firmware from 1.3.7 to 1.3.9
How do I update the firmware for the MC mix?

Open the Eucontrol application, Settings. Select Surfaces, in the right hand panel you should see your MCMIX, click on it to select it, a button at the bottom of the panel says, "Update Firmware".

No trouble. Let us know if that update does anything for your situation at all.

I've been using DP 7.0.2 with the new Euphonix software (2.1) and it is working. I've almost moved all my DP audio projects to a larger external drive.

I've had DP crash once, had two occasions where the audio would just "stall" for a heartbeat on playback in a couple of random places, but replaying it would be fine. I might have to revisit the buffer sizes and host multipliers.

The MCMix has been quite reliable thus far. So why is it I feel I'm walking on eggs when I use it...

That's good news... I updated but haven't been using the MC Control much lately. I have a project coming up this week where I will need it so it's time to get it going again, though.

How about CPU wildness with large projects.

I had one alert pop up that said DP overloaded my CPU, but I haven't seen it since. I'll be keeping an eye on it though. At the time the file I was working on had three MIDI tracks and 12 audio tracks, I was playing those back and recording 3 new audio tracks (punch in).

I'm using 2 MC Mix's, an MC Control, and an MC Transport. Other than a little bit of weirdness with the MC Transport, I haven't had any issues for a while. Using the latest firmware.

I've been overall impressed with this control surface and I like how it automatically switches to control the finder or iTunes or whatever application you're in. Previously I was using the Radikal thing... this is far cleaner.

BTW, there is a really cool thread on a guy that built a "poor man's MC-5" using these controllers. Check it out: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/high-end ... -pics.html

Also, if you haven't checked out Argosy Console's desks, they are very cool as well. They have a desk that is very similar to the above. http://www.argosyconsole.com

So are you Euphonix guys ready to declare the MC mix fully functional with DP7? I have a Mackie Universal pro and 2 exts that I would love to change to the lower profile MC mix. However I just keep hearing the nightmare stories. But I believe it will eventually work.

To be fair... my MC Control has always worked with DP. I have seen cpu issues but never to the detriment of my work but others have had a different experience. So in that regard it works fine.
