"I'm talking 'bout Shaft!"
So, only a hand full of people know this but Isaac Hayes had help writing the theme from "Shaft". He had so much help, in fact, that the guy that helped him might qualify as a ghost writer. I only know this because I know the ghost writer. I won't reveal his name but will tell you that his name does appear in an odd place on the movie soundtrack album cover.
Your trivia for the day from....

A quick search of the ASCAP/BMI Songview database reveals the following:

OK, so here's the reveal:
https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/de ... and-More!/
From that article:
"The second Shaft film, Shaft’s Big Score! (1972), was scored by the director of the first two installments, Gordon Parks, when Hayes was unavailable. Parks was a multitalented musician, poet, author and photographer, in addition to filmmaker, who had scored his directorial debut, 1969’s The Learning Tree, and was technically assisted on his film scores (
as was Hayes on Shaft) by Tom McIntosh."
Yeah, the "technical assistance" was because Hayes wasn't even coming close to meeting deadlines. Parks had worked with Tom on "The Learning Tree" and hired him to come in and get "Shaft" back on track, which he did. Tom later worked on "Shaft's Big Score." I'm pretty sure he was credited as arranger (or maybe orchestrator) on that score.

By time it’s Friday here, it’s pretty much Saturday there. Did anything happen?

Well, there was an article about New Zealanders leaving in droves for Australia due to cost of living, which seems somewhat ironic given the poor exchange rate of the Australian Dollar stateside. Do monkeys and kiwis mix?

Apparently they do Brother Mark.

Wednesday May 28 and no news yet

At this point I think a few words from someone at MOTU would be a lot better than silence.

All of the older DAWs like DP have no open beta and no previous to the release announcements. Not Cubase, Logic, or Pro Tools.
This particular go round it's especially frustrating that this is their policy since it's only possibly going to be beaten in length between releases by Ableton Live which had a 5 year almost period between 9 and 10.
I do think however the release of their new 16A is a possible sign they have the time to finish up 12. Plus Summer releases happen all the time in software. I'm probably being optimistic, but Matt did more or less drop hints they're working on it in a recent webinar, something like "I wish I could put all of you under an NDA".
Just believe it will happen.

The fact that the webinars continue indicates to me that they haven't thrown in the towel on DP.

Yeah I've been telling myself that for long time now.
I mean it's possible that DP12 rewrites parts of the core functions of DP, other DAWs had to do that to get functions that people wanted. I just hope it's not just spatial audio and a few new plugins designed for it.
Mostly I want a fix to Clippings where you don't get italicized useless outputs and busses sometimes. Matt did mention that's on their radar. Then you could truly use Clippings to make a modular setup EW Opus? with articulations already mapped? drag and drop. I did the traditional Other DAWs™ test and it works great in Live, Logic and Reaper.

What's the "Other DAWs™ test" Michael?
Unrelated note:
Has MOTU moved all the webinars to the MOTU TV site yet? If not, that absolutely sucks. It's not as if there's not a glaring shortage of tute videos for DP up on YouTube compared to the other brands.
