I probably will not download all the new sounds for DP10. The fact that they are tied to an iLock is a downer for me.

I don't think you need the physical iLok, do you?? Just the iLok account. You can authorize most things to you computer directly. I've had an iLok account forever and it's been reliable and unobtrusive, and simple to use.MikeInBoston wrote:I probably will not download all the new sounds for DP10. The MOTU site is quite clear that you do not need the physical iLok dongle.bayswater wrote:I don't think you need the physical iLok, do you?? Just the iLok account. This has been a Mac OS issue from El Cap that wasn't finally fixed till the last build of Sierra. Not everybody has problems with it and not all zip files misbehave. PSP refused to believe they were affected. It was Eventide support who turned me onto keka.app."motu-instruments.zip.cpgz" (?) until I didn't use the MacOS to unzip ...I had to use Keka to unzip to get a .ufs
Thanks Mike.mikehalloran wrote:1) On the FB page, people are saying that, if there's no dot in the file namr, it overwrites—weird. I renamed mine Digital Performer 9.52 and was good.wonder wrote:1. I renamed my DP9.5 in my applications folder to "Digital Performer 9". I installed DP10 and it replaced Digital Performer in my Applications. Weird. How to I keep 2 copies of DP on my system?
2. Where are the new sound banks/VI's that are bundled with DP10? I don't see them anywhere..
2) You download the 5G Instruments plus the Loops etc. from your Licenses page at motu.com after purchase.
I've been using The Unarchiver, free on the App Store. It seems a little more transparent than Keka, and does some of those new weird archive formats WIndows people use.mikehalloran wrote:This has been a Mac OS issue from El Cap that wasn't finally fixed till the last build of Sierra. Forward compatible, yes, but DP10 files are not backwards compatible. You you need to “Save-As DP 7-9” if you want to go back to 9.5 etc.Prime Mover wrote:Does anyone know if DP9.5 is forwards compatible with DP10 projects? I found that DP8 can open 9.5 projects just fine.
I've played it a bit. As long as you don't use 10 specific features, you should be fine.Prime Mover wrote:Does anyone know if DP9.5 is forwards compatible with DP10 projects? I found that DP8 can open 9.5 projects just fine.
I think you're confusing the two terms. Backwards compatibility is DP10 opening DP9 files (since it's going backwards to the file). Most commonly this is a term used in the video game industry where one console can play games made for an older legacy system. Forwards compatibility is the opposite: an older version of the program able to go "forward" and open documents made by a newer version, in this case DP9 opening DP10 projects.dix wrote:Forward compatible, yes, but DP10 files are not backwards compatible. So if I have MachFIVE 3, I don’t need the new MOTU instruments download that comes with DP10? They are all included in M53? If this has been clarified I missed it.mikehalloran wrote:The MOTU site is quite clear that you do not need the physical iLok dongle.bayswater wrote:I don't think you need the physical iLok, do you?? I quite agree on iLok—easy to use and unobtrusive. Not tying the VI library license to DP (or MV3) allows you to use it in other applications. This is a benefit.
OTOH, if you do have MachFive 3, you do not need to have 10.2GB where 5.1GB will suffice. I tried the MV3 download and the UVI 3 player loads it just fine.
Clarified by MOTU? No.MartinBaird wrote:...

Thanks for doing that Mike, saved me from having to!mikehalloran wrote:I spent 10 minutes looking it over and concluded that the two libraries were the same. If MOTU or anyone examines them more carefully and says I’m wrong, then I am. Both are 5.1G downloads. The loops and instruments have the same names. I did not do a byte for byte comparison. Both also open in the current version of the stand-alone UVI 3 Player (downloadable from MOTU or UVI).
