I still expect to see a bit more infomation on DP7. Dp7 on an intel? Some one have any more to say. I can only wait for a day or so and then I will have to buy it any ways. Buying upgrades is like booze to an alki.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I have the same machine as you do (though as opposed to you, I run the antiquated OS10.6.1  ) I'll report soon.

I'm curious if anyone has checked out whether merging a soundbite with fades and pitch correction works now in DP7, or still has to be a separate process (merge with fades, then do the pitch correction, or just BTD)?

thanks.

That would be the number 1 thing of interest to me. I'm always holding off on using pitch correction because of this issue, thinking that I will have to wait until I have merged my comp track, or thinking that I will just wait to do it all in Melodyne.

I would MUCH rather just know that I can do it in DP and not worry about problems when I merge the track later. :-)

2 initial Cons:

Though it's not a biggie. . . WTF is with the Instruments Demo Project??? Is THAT really a good example of what you can do with the built-in virtual instruments? Seriously? I remember when opening one of these projects back in version 5, and it was loaded with tracks, samples, instruments, and diverse interesting well produced music. These guys have connections with Jordan Ruddess for god's sake. A very poor representation of what can be accomplished with what you get out of the box. ALSO. . .What is with the MOTU Tutorial Files with NOTHING in them??? Am I missing something, clueless, or what?

2ndly, the merge soundbites enhancement, to ME is NOT an enhancement. I liked the way it functioned before, this new functionality should be AN OPTION. . .please. It was so easy to just draw a marqui around all the bytes I wanted to write the pitch automation for, and now it will write a bunch of audio that I DON'T need. Enhancement my rear behind.

So far, two and a half steps back, though they may be small, they are there.

Rear behind?

Hold down the control and option keys before you make the marquis selection. This will give you the lasso tool which will select only the objects within it's range. Now Merge. The merge range will be based on the beginning of the first selected bite and the end of the last selected bite.

The ability to merge based on time selection is a user request. It makes creating contiguous soundbites from the beginning of the sequence very easy.

this is great, no more needing to paste something at beat one to create contiguous consolidated tracks. (or can I already do this with the lasso tool in 5.13?)

The lasso tool selects objects. If the lasso marquis includes four bar of empty tracks space and one bar of a 20 bar soundbite, the entire soundbite will be selected, but none of the blank track space. If you want to select a time range that does not include objects, don't use the lasso tool.

No, DP5.13 does not merge based on time range selections. In DP5.13, if you want a merge to include the beginning of the track, there has to be audio at the beginning of the track.

Got it. That's a welcome addition to DP. Great to have your presence here Dave, thanks.

On to the Click Track/ Metronome. Nobody seems to have mentioned as yet if the mysterious problem (that some of us had and some of us didn't) has been addressed. drum roll please......IT WORKS....as it should!!!! No more skipping beats at the start of record. Phew!
I have to say DP7 is looking great.
