Also one question I have about this pre-rendering... Let's say I have some MIDI tracks going to one instrument and I am also controlling the same instrument instance with my MIDI controller during playback. The MIDI tracks can be pre-rendered but the realtime control can't. What happens?
Much of this remains to be seen-- but features like Prime Seconds and Work Quanta, etc., *should* now enable the user to fine tune the intervals at which DP does its calculations and looks ahead.
Other DAWs have had VI pre-rendering for a while and there's probably not enough hands-on info to determine just how DP6 will sort out this feature. However-- since performance will be greatly improved based on the way it works in other DAWs, the following will be likely:
1. Real time controller editing will be much less glitch-ridden.
2. Some controller fine-tuning will still require stopping playback, but DP6's performance should still come as a breath of fresh air
Dude, not cool. I'm at work. Try warning us about that kind of thing first.
No kidding. I opened this with my 11 year old daughter standing just behind me. Luckily I was able to close the browser just as her head was turning.
Don't be putting up porn like that without some kind of disclaimer. It's not cool.
Agreed... not cool at all. I'm just wasted 10-15 minutes of my life having to go through this thread and edit the URL. We don't need to see a close up a naked woman's bottom half here. That's not what the board is for. I will repeat for those who are interested, that this isn't a locker room. For Pete's sake we have female members on this board and even if we didn't that's not what I want to come to this board to see. Thanks.

I have read the specs for the new DP6 but, there is something that is not very clear for me :
is DP6 universal binary application like DP5 ? (meaning that it runs natively on either PowerPC or Intel Macs).
Im asking this because ive got a PB g4 with Tiger runing DP 4.61 and i really want to upgrade to this very wonderfull version. I know its time to upgrade for a Macbook intel-based but money will come after Sept!.
Thanks
Nice try.
...................................Thank you for your answer.
I think its really commendable that James has pointed out that this is not a "boy's club", and that there are women that also are members here. Also, there are even a few transgendered members that I know of, one of who has been a major influence on my own music. So again, this board really is a very cool place and thanks to James for keeping it that way. We're here to support each other in a positive vibe, and I've always been incredibly grateful to the really fantastic -- yes, amazingly friendly -- people here who take the time to answer my questions (however idiotic) and sometimes even put up with my silly comments.
Porn we can get just about everywhere else on the web, so let's keep this one focused.

Naked bottom? Okay, obviously I've missed something here. Wasn't that a picture of a palm tree? Hmmm, now that I think about it, those leaves looked a little too curly to me.

Thank you for your answer.
In this situation, not even extreme politeness will work. BETA testers are not allowed to talk about the product, either you know this already, or you should be aware of it to avoid future disappointment when asking about DP7.
Success is just one more plugin away! And happiness is as close as your next upgrade.

Um, I could be wrong, but I think he was joking and referring to earlier references to us all being MOTU's "beta tester" when DP6 is released. No need for lecturing..
In answer to the original question, MOTU's system requirements (posted earlier in the thread more than once) should make the UB issue clear (compatible, but not recommended, for 10.4.7 and up).

Stop, what was that last part? C'mon, face it. We both want to pummel this guy until he's begging for Cubase UltraLite!
Actually, when manusound wrote "thank you for answering" I got the impression that he was being snarky because he actually believed he could get an answer from a Beta tester. So I tried to unpoint his disappointacity.
P.S. Nice beard. I think he also played in the River Bottom Nightmare Band for Emmett Otters Jugband Christmas.

I feel like this is going to be an off topic question, considering where this thread has gone... but here goes.
I placed my order yesterday and there was a window that mentioned the shipping, etc., but no confirmation window, email or mention of it in my order history.
Did anyone get anything else after the "submit your order" window other than "your order has been submitted"?
I'll take my answer off line and away from the palm trees. Thank you.
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Just my take.
Pre-rendering by its nature means that when parameters are being changed in real-time (such as by turning knobs on your MIDI controller during recording or playback), the plug-in must switch out of the pre-rendering mode and into the real-time mode. The host can't pre-render changes that haven't happened yet.
I got a mail with the subject 'DP6 Order' from MOTU Customer Service that seemed mailed from a person thanking for the order and stating that I will be notified when shipping starts. And also one that seemed automatically generated from motustore@motu.com saying pretty much the same thing in a less personal way

I see we're going to sort of "ease out" of the boy's club mentality rather than shift abruptly.
Has anybody seen any full screenshots of the consolidated window? I didn't see any on the MOTU site. All I've seen so far are a corner here and a corner there...
