OMG-- The Beatle Thread Returns for another 100 pages!!

Coincidence-- this thread returns on the same day an afore-mentioned Beatle how-to DVD is also updated with Volume 4 (which holds its own as one of the few if not ONLY truly excellent instructional DVD series on the market of its kind.. "Beatles To-A-Tee".)

Thanks, RA, for the tip of the IK updates.

Those teasers are cruel! Now *what* could it be? :?:

Nice to see this thread making a resurgence after all these months!

And interestingly, you brought it to the surface on a day when there is some other Beatle news, as well...

Learn to Play Beatles To A Tee 4 has just been announced and is available for ordering:

http://www.to-a-tee.tv/
http://www.to-a-tee.tv/products/beatles4/

That's a great series of DVDs if you want to learn your Beatles chops.

Didn't I buy StudioPhonik in a group buy, a long time ago? What ever happened with that?" IK is advertising that something is going to come out on the 13th..... Hmmmm
I have been following Studiophonik discussion over at eSoundz, and I believe that this release is right around the corner. However, unless there has been some last minute change from IK Multimedia, I believe it was decided that Studiophonik will NOT have its own skin as shown in the second of your links. But I thought that was a disappointing development, so I hope they changed their minds on that.

But apparently SampleTank 3 is right around the corner, so that may be what is coming up on the 13th. And supposedly the new SampleTank has a lot of new features to allow you to better manage you sound library, and maybe even isolate sections of your library (like the Studiophonik instruments, for example). I'm excited to learn more... :-)

<EDIT> I submitted this post, and see that Sir Frodo has already beat me to the punch on Beatles To-A-Tee!!!

Glad we're all still here! :-)

I was just going to inquire about what's new to come in ST3, especially with all else going on with OSX. Looking forward to hearing more about it, too, and I'm especially interested in how all this shakes hands with DP.

Hmmm so are you saying that you think that StudioPhonik may be folded into ST3?

No... not saying that. I'm not really sure how it is going to go down, but I gather that since Studiophonik isn't supposed to have its own skin that it will just be a library that you can add to your SampleTank collection, or access from an instance of Sampletank, with a bunch of new ST features and effects which you can use to make better use of the Studiophonik blended sounds, etc.

It really is a bit of a mystery. Squids ain't talking much, and apparently IK decided not to skin the product, much to his disappointment. I get the impression, also, that there will NOT be very much in the way of additional sounds... so we probably got the bulk of it in the Prelude. I seem to recall that at least another gigabyte of instruments was going to be provided to use upon the product release, but the latest posts have really downplayed all additional content and seems to indicate that we'll see a lot less.

If you have StudioPhonik and SampleTank 2.5, you can already move your StudioPhonik library over to SampleTank's library and run it that way (though I'm not sure how that would work with the mic/direct controls). When I purchased my Total Workstation Bundle from IK a couple of years ago, I was forced to do that with my Sonik Synth library until they finally released a UB update to Sonik Synth 2. My smart money would be on a "SampleTank 3", since they haven't bothered to upgrade StudioPhonik for a few years (and actually no longer offer it for sale on their site in any capacity), though I wish they would have -- I love my SampleTank instruments to death, they're all rock-solid to use with DP and I've heard amazing things about StudioPhonik. At least make the Expansion Tanks available again.

Oh, I'm always "twisting and shouting" about something or other and am never that far away at any given moment. Last week it was a movie double feature: "A Hard Day's NIght" and, you guessed it--- "A Hard Day's Night". Watched it twice in a row without meaning to!!

Lately, it's been about scouring youtube for Beatle vids I'd not seen. Last couple of days, I pulled out my Rickenbacker 330 and wrote a couple of tunes of the Beatley/Badfingery sort.

Pretty soon, I would be keenly interested to see what StudioPhonik has to offer since I already have the latest SampleTank. One of the main reasons is that it's wholly uncertain if or when FabFour will be expanded. EW talked about that two years ago, but they've been quite busy with other things in the interim. I'm getting quite a kick out of exploring that 60's guitar and synth blend of sounds and long for more.

If SampleTank is going to be the default host for StudioPhonik, then I'm halfway there. It's likely that ST3 might have a new look. We shall see.

Oh yeah... I've done that. But the trouble is that my SampleTank library is now so big that it adds an unreasonable amount of time to the loading of any DP project (since I use ST in all my projects). With the new SampleTank there has been the suggestion that perhaps we will now be able to isolate libraries so that ONLY the library which is referenced by a SampleTank instance will have to be loaded, and NOT the full library of instruments. I would love more instant DP project loading.

Studiophonik has never actually been released. It has been advertised and promoted for years but has never been available for sale. Some of us joined a group buy back in winter 2007 where we got a bunch of the content with the promise of the remaining content upon release of the product. As of today's date, we are still awaiting its official release. Perhaps on the 13th...?

But yes, Studiophonik does have some cool instruments where you can blend between variations of the guitar tone.

I've got mine divided between SampleTank, Sonik Synth 2 and Philharmonik. I've often thought about purchasing some Expansion Tanks or additional sounds from the likes of Sonic Reality, but so far, the only addition I've made was, ironically, EastWest Quantum Leap Guitars & Bass (an Akai sample disc). I'm not entirely sure it imported the disc correctedly, since some of the sounds seem like they'd be part of a keyswitch set and some of the other sounds are questionable, but I can use the sounds okay.

Really?!? I know Sweetwater was selling it (or at least listing it in their catalog, which is how I first heard of it) for a short while when SampleTank was first released, and when everything went over to UB, it seemed like Studiophonik was one of the first things to vanish, but it is pretty odd that there's almost no mention of it anywhere on IK's site. It was another Sonic Reality program, like Sonik Synth was. It's doubly odd that you really have to dig around to find any traces of the Expansion Tank sets, too.
